Another solution that I found was that you could edit your “about me” and your average step count will come back. If you are using the app, this is done by:
1. Clicking on your profile photo in the top left.
2. Clicking on the “view your profile” section
3. Clicking on “personal”
4. Clicking on “About me”
5. Writing/editing what you have in that area
I’m not sure this is an official fix but it worked for me so if you’re struggling with this then it’s worth a shot.
Best AnswerI’ve been having this problem myself and I’ve tried all of the suggested fixes. I don’t have the ranking setting, logging out and in did nothing, and edited my “about me” also didn’t solve the problem. This is very frustrating!
Best AnswerSorry, but I just don't see "Show Me" in the Friend Rankings. So, I am unable to fix the "no recent activity" issue with my Fitbit app.
Hello,
I have a Fitbit versa 2, and I have had this working for several years now and just recently it has stopped working.
I followed the above steps until I hit step 4, there is no "See Friend Rankings". Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Helen
Best AnswerThis didn't work for me. On the Personal Info tab, I see my cover image, email address, birthdate, and on down to advanced settings. There is no "see friends rankings". This is just frustrating.
I haven't changed any settings. It was there one minute and gone the next. None of the suggestions for updating have worked. And I have the latest version of Fitbit. On the Fitbit.com dashboard, my friends tile only shows them- not me. On IOS, I am shown as inactive.

Same for me
Best AnswerAgreed! Same here, too! 😕
Best AnswerWait. I actually just fixed it on mine! On the actual dot com site (not the app), I went to privacy (then) statistics (then) Average Daily Step Count and it was randomly set to private for some reason? Even though it was always visible before? But I clicked that to friends only and now I’m back in the rankings and I see my total cumulative step count. Hope that helps someone else because I’ve been soooo frustrated by this for the past week or so.
That was VERY helpful! Thank you!
Best AnswerOMG - that did it!
Thank you so much.
I can't believe the chat line didn't know to tell me to check that.
Thanks again.
So frustrating when something changes and you know you didn't do it.
Have a good one!
Toggling Average Daily Step Count setting, under Privacy, did the trick. 😃
Been trying to figure this out since the beginning of February.
THANK YOU!!
This just worked for me. Thank you so much!!
I was very frustrated yesterday after chatting with support. They were not helpful at all. ☹️
Best AnswerI’ve been trying to fix this problem for MONTHS. I think it’s time to give up and get an Apple Smartwatch….
