I am using fitbit for iOS, and the data is coming from my iphone device. I find that I only have step counts for the days I check the app. Otherwise it just shows 0.
I'd like to think that regardless of whether I check the app or not, it is seemlessly recording my activity. It seemed that this is how it worked a couple of months ago, and something seemed to change.
Any feedback you have will be helpful!
Thank you

Hi @loreasinclaire. Which Fitbit device are you syncing to the app on your iPhone? Exactly where are you seeing the zero steps? I'd like to try to help.

Probably not giving enough time to sync. Watch the progress bar. It can take longer than you think and some items sync last.
Your device can be set to continuous sync but depending on proximity, it will likely not sync until you open the app. I find the Activity dots are almost last. Then it takes a minute or two.
I like mine on manual.

I forgot to mention the App Background refresh setting. In IPhone Settings, scroll down to the Fitbit settings and check if background toggle is on or off. Takes more resources but "On" may help your complaint.
That setting helps the App Activity tracker more than the Fitbit band.

@SunsetRunner,
Thanks for taking the time to respond. It is syncing data directly from my iphone 6s's inner sensors– no special wearable. I am viewing my step count within the iOS app, which is displayed on a daily interval

Hi @Biker_Bill,
The "MobileTrack" sync definitely completes, in fact I have tried it several times on different days. It does end up fetching data for that day, but if I look back at a past day (i.e. any other day this week which I didn't check) steps are all 0.
Also, I just checked and the background option is definitely on
Thanks for your help,
Im still concerned as to what is happening!

You probably need help from Support. It may be by design or an oversight. I use Mobi Track when I forget my Fitbit. I know it tracks sessions and gets the steps for comparison but it may not be designed to keep step count and looking for tracker. Did it keep steps before for you and stopped or never did?
Why are you using Fitbit not with a tracker. I used to use Pacer app when I just used phone steps. Allows friend tracking also.
You probably already know you can configure Apple Health to pick up steps from phone. Useful for tracking with Apps that do use Apple Health database.
