My new Fitbit Charge 2 will not set up on my iPhone 4 version 9.3.5.  I have got as far as connecting to device then it stays there. I have checked that the Bluetooth is on, reinstalled the Fitbit app and rebooted the phone. I am at a loss as to what to do now. Can anyone help?

According to the list of supported phones at www.fitbit.com/devices you need the 4S or later for it to work with fitbit. I understand that the issue with the 4 is that it doesn't have the necessary bluetooth version.

Do you have a computer / laptop that you could use to setup and sync your fitbit?

Thanks for your reply, I do have Bluetooth on my iPhone but obviously not the recent one. I do have a Toshiba laptop which was Windows 8 upgraded to Windows 10 Home and I am having difficulty uploading the app onto that. It's a shame as the Charge 2 was my birthday present so I am not sure what to do now.

What problems are you having with the app on the laptop?

There are 2 ways to use fitbit on Windows 10. The first is to download and install the fitbit connect software but this requires a fitbit wireless dongle which isn't included with the Charge 2. The other way is to use the fitbit app from the Windows store. This will work without a fitbit dongle providing the laptop has built in bluetooth. This would sound like your best bet if we can overcome the problems you are having.

I really appreciate your help in this. My laptop doesn't have Bluetooth which is typical! I am currently looking at the Fitbit dongle, a Bluetooth adaptor or I may just treat myself to a new Windows phone for my birthday!

If you are thinking of the fitbit dongle then it might be worth calling customer support. They have been known to offer the dongle for free in some circumstances. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Also, if you are thinking a new phone then check the supported list and note that fitbit's support of Windows phones is not yet at the same level of android or iOS e.g. notifications are not yet working
