iOS App incorrectly calculating calories

I often find that my app has doubled the amount of items I have eaten. For instance yesterday at the end of the day I was under the limit for my calories, but when I opened the app today it said I'd eaten around 600 more calories than I needed. I opened the day's food and saw it had doubled some items, for instance for breakfast there were two entries for my cereal, and in the afternoon there were two entries for cake - I definitely only had one lot of both! For clarity, I had logged one item at two servings of cereal, but only one serving of cake, and neither was listed as two separate entries until the app added the same amount again.

This happens at random but is more common if I go to log on the website and then later look at the app. For example, when the app won't recognise a food (you already know about this issue, when it comes up in the search but gets stuck when I select the food), I occasionally log into the website on my laptop and add that rogue food item. On those days the calculations on the app go completely haywire.

I'm using the App on an iPhone 6, my FitBit is an Alta HR.

It’s good to see you in the community, @bookshopblogger.

Thanks for the details shared in your post. I understand how you are feeling about this situation and appreciate your troubleshooting efforts. I understand how much the issue with logging food is affecting you and I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Our team is working on this situation to identify a resolution as quickly as possible. I recommend trying the following after you log food on the website:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  3. Reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and log back into your account.

Hope this helps.
