iOS Fitbit app constantly crashes with iOS 13 beta

I updated my iPhone XS to iOS 13 Beta 3 and now the iOS Fitbit v2.95 constantly crashes.  I have tried to delete and reinstall it several times to no avail.  Any ideas to get it working again or get a patch for iOS 13?

My Fitbit app is now working as of this morning on ios13 beta 4, on Sunday July 28 @ 6:49am. Try yours again, it might work.

I found that if I advanced my date to tomorrow on my iPhone that the fitbit app worked and when I put the date back to today and closed the app, it crashed.  I found if i put the date to tomorrow and open the app then put it back to today's date but don't close the app. It worked so I guess it has something to do with the date on the servers.  Who knows.  I just know I won't close the app until tomorrow.

I can confirm that works, very interesting

I tested changing the date to Sunday and it worked. So it must be a Friday
and Saturday thing breaking it.

It’s a piss poor work around but yes it does work.
come on Fitbit  this must be an easy fix now we know it a time/sync issue

It seems like it works fine sun-wed than it stops working that’s what happened last week.

Yup, that's what I came to think this morning! Piss me off that you Absolutely need the app sync to their servers for it to work... Plus that Spo2 scam they used to sell me the Charge 3... seriously considering Apple Watch now!

The Apple Watch is awesome but their fitness app is nowhere near as slick as Fitbit’s

All,

We are all going on over a week with this issue.  Even though Fitbit has been sluggish in doing anything about this issue, it's heartening to see so many of us affected by this bug sharing with one another.  Here are a few reflections/conclusions/hypotheses/questions I am wondering about

  1. Someone said that it seems to work from Sunday to Wednesday.  Another person in this thread advanced the date to Sunday and then rolled it back and it worked.  I tried the date trick and it is working from me.  The only part of the theory that it works from Sunday to Wednesday that does not sit well with me is I got a notice from the App Store that my iPhone auto-updated to Fitbit 3.2 and that is when it stopped working.  For me that happened either late Wednesday or early Thursday.  It's a bit puzzling because I deleted and re-installed Fitbit several times late last week before things settled down last Sunday. I wish I had saved a screen shot of the update notice on my phone but I cannot find it now.
  2. Something that has not been said much is that I have still been getting notifications from Fitbit even though the app won't launch.  It's not tracking steps though (I have an AppleWatch and no Fitbit tracker; I use my iPhone as my tracker on Fitbit).
  3. I could see the Fitbit app open in the app switcher in a frozen state from prior to the crashing.  I flicked it up to close it and after that it would not open until I tried the date trick reported here.
  4. Curious to know whether there is any relationship to users who had updated to the new interface or not or whether it's independent of that?
  5. Curious to know if there is any relationship to being in Challenges or not?  I was in challenges each of the last two weeks and would get notices sent within the challenges.

Here's another new wrinkle that might be particular to folks using the iPhone as the tracker.  The Fitbit now registers the steps I earned Thursday through now in the iOS app.  It back filled the steps from the days it was not working!  But those steps do not show up when I log into my profile on my Mac.  It says I have not synced since Wednesday at 10:20p local time.

Hi everyone. Thanks for visiting the Community Forums, and I'm sorry for my delayed response.

Thanks to all of you for the information provided, as well for the troubleshooting steps that you've tried to get the Fitbit app working on your iOS devices. Please take into consideration that since the full iOS version hasn't been released, it's expected to have an unusual behavior when using a beta OS version. Our team is working to ensure the app is fully compatible with iOS 13.

If you have another question, feel free to let me know.

@LizzyFitbit, respectfully, I believe we all understand the perils of beta software, and the upset here is commensurately measured, but come on! iOS 13 is coming out probably in September and it probably is not dramatically different than the betas we are using.  We have seen no updates to the Fitbit app that appear to address this issue.  I had assumed that perhaps Fitbit made some adjustments on the server end to help but it broke a few days later.  Your words offer no comfort and confidence that Fitbit is truly expending any effort to fix this issue.

I would interject I haven’t seen any pop over Fitbit ads since going to iOS 13 (any of the four betas) I’ll make a WAG that ads may not be compliant with ios13.

I just went back to IOS 12, I need my fitbit app more than I need IOS 13, I mean there is only dark mode I miss from IOS 13 so I can wait a month or so.

Please note, I have had issues with other apps when running IOS 13, so its not just the fitbit app, maybe apple are not giving out enough details to devs on the changes they are making before launching updates.
