Since the latest update (one week ago) the app no longer shows my step count as it happens. I can only see my step count by syncing which takes time and is frustrating. Previously, my step count increased as I walked. Now I have to stop walking and sync to see my step count. Not good. Please restore previous version.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Jabc.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing that the app no longer shows your step count as it happens since the latest update. Thanks for details provided and your feedback, I understand how you are feeling and I am here to help. I recommend trying the following:
- Log out from the Fitbit app.
- Force quit the Fitbit app.
- Reboot your phone.
- Open the Fitbit app and log back in to your account.
Let me know how it goes, I'll be around.

I am having the same problem. I have tried your fix and it worked for a few minutes then stopped. My phone battery is not staying charged as normal either since I updated the app. Please help!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @An17di.
Thank you for joining the thread and sharing that you're experiencing the same issue. I appreciate your troubleshooting efforts and the information that the issue was resolved for a few minutes and that your phone's battery is not staying charged since the app update.
I would like to confirm the model of your phone and app version for me to investigate further. To see which version of the Fitbit app you have, tap the Today tab > your profile picture > Help. The app version is at the top. Please also let me know if the Fitbit app is running in the background?
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

The interruption of dynamic update to the iOS app has been reported many times on this board and others. And it doesn't just affect step counts - heart rate and calorie burn, etc are affected, as well. The connection just fails.
While I have had 40 years in enterprise computing and at one time coded to the WinMobile environment, I have never had to code to bluetooth stacks. However, I truly believe it all points to inadequate/weak bluetooth connections, whether a pairing has been accomplished, or, as in my case, not - see support ticket #34427518 from February 7, 2020 where I document that my Versa 2 has n-e-v-e-r been able to pair with my iOS device.
Taking the app out of memory and restarting it works for me, but sometimes as soon as 10 minutes later the dynamic update stops and most often within one hour. And attempting to force a sync has the progress bar stop in the middle of the screen and the sync fails. Which means I have to take it out of memory, restart the app, answer the pairing request again, yada yada.
It gets to be quite tiring. Especially when my son laughs and says he never has issues with his Series 5.
