Welcome to the Community @nscotthendo! Could you tell me if you get any error during the process? If yes, what does it say? Before start syncing, your tracker has to be pair to your account. Could you tell me if you followed these instructions during that process? Also, make sure that your mobile device is running the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Looking forward to your new comments.

My partner and I are having a similar issue, I got her a Charge HR last night and attempted to connect/sync it with her IPhone 6se however the app would never allow the Fitbit to update its own software- the iOS app was freshly downloaded so that is definitely not the culprit. When I finally get the Charge to connect with her phone the app says "Fitbit isn't useable until its software has been updated" so I try that. The pink button that says update now shows that it's being pressed but nothing happens. I tried resetting the Fitbit, the phone, and even left the Fitbit to charge for an hour and a half to full battery but nothing works. I am wondering if Fitbit iOS app dosnt play nicely with iPhone 6se?

@unicornsexist Let me see if I can help you out. The iPhone SE is for sure a compatible device with syncing and updating Fitbit trackers. I'd recommend:

1. Restarting the tracker.

2. Rebooting your partner's iPhone.

3. Open the iOS settings > turn off Bluetooth for 10 seconds > and then turn Bluetooth back on.

4. Try updating the tracker's firmware.

If steps 1-4 don't help, I'd then recommend try using either a different mobile device or a computer to update the tracker's firmware.

Hope this helps!
