"Open the app to sync your stats" notification keeps appearing when app is closed

Fitbit iOS app is only started once a day to sync stats. All-day sync is off. Recently this notification began appearing on the iPhone. "Open the app to sync your stats"

I only want to sync once in the morning, to update the prior day's stats. I cannot determine how/why this message started appearing. There is a post from early 2019 of a similar message, and a lot of complaints. The reason given was that the app needed to be running to keep stats current... which I (and other "non-all day sync" users) did not want.

The last post said the message was "temporarily disabled". It appears to have returned, and it needs to be disabled again.

Chemilyn, you are correct, and I have just changed that setting. I wish I'd seen it much sooner, but thank you! To clarify the instructions:

  • Open Fitbit app
  • Click user icon (upper left of screen)
  • Scroll down and select Notifications
  • Turn off the Force Quit Reminders (funny name for that option)
    • Description says "Get reminders to keep the Fitbit app running in the background, so you can sync and save your latest stats", so that is exactly the solution.

BTW, there is no need for selecting Settings->Privacy, as you had mentioned. There is nothing about notifications in it.

I use the app the same way you do. I have specifically turned off all day synch because it kills my phone battery. I updated the app a few weeks ago and just updated again. I hope this was an oversight that this notification was re-enabled.

This warning makes no sense if you have all day synch turned off. You've specifically told the app you don't want to use this feature but then the app keeps warning you that you're not using something you don't want!

I’m having the same issue, however in my case I do have and want all day sync enabled but this message keeps popping every once in a while during the day.

I found another thread with this same issue from a few months ago and the newest update should give you the ability to turn off this annoying notification! Go to Settings > Privacy and Notifications > Notifications and the first one at the top should be Force Quit Reminders — turn it off!
