using a gmail account but not share with fitbit friends

I cannot see my partners step count - note suggests she is not using a gmail account - but she is (with .gmail suffix). How do I convert a google account to let her share

@100222   I've used Gmail for years, long before Google bought Fitbit.  So I had a Fitbit account that uses Gmail as my email address.  Accounts don't automatically migrate, so I had to follow the steps to migrate to a Google account.  How to tell the difference on your app:

• If you have a gear icon in the upper right of your Fitbit app, then you have a Fitbit account.
• If you see your Google profile picture, then you have a Google account.

If you have a gear in the upper right, tap on it and this is at the top of the page:

Tap on Move Account and follow the steps.
