Ace 2 Band Problems

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought my 4 kids Ace 2s for Christmas.  I would not consider my kids to have sensitive skin, but all four of them had major reactions to the watch bands.  The bands left red marks that almost look like a burn and could not be used.

Hi, @Runrunrun123 , are the marks in the area where the actual Fitbit touches their skin, or are they all around, definitely coming from the bands?  The bands are made of elastomer, which very few people would react to, but the elastomer isn’t a breathable material, so if the kids are running around and getting hot and sweaty that could cause a reaction and then continuing to wear the bands without drying out, that could be causing the issue.  I personally find these bands fine in the winter, but a bit “sticky” in warmer weather - and I am not an active kid!  You might look for third party bands on the internet to substitute for the elastomer bands if that is what is causing the issue.

Meanwhile, please do read Fitbit’s information on keeping skin healthy while wearing a Fitbit.  The info was produced by qualified dermatologists:  https://www.fitbit.com/uk/product-care

You should, of course, stop them wearing their Fitbits until their skin has completely healed. Then, if after following the instructions in that help article the kids continue to have issues, you should get in touch with Fitbit Customer Support on contact.fitbit.com and they can provide further help.  Please be aware that under current circumstances response times will be longer than usual.

My son had the same problems, it does look like a burn. I’d attach a photo if I could. It’s a real shame as he loves wearing his Ace2.

My son has been getting burns and we have done everything in the faqs.  I've washed the band we have been switching from arm to arm.  Rash, rash, rash.  Recently a big welt and I saw him running cold water over his wrist at the sink.  These bands are not good.  Something has to be done.  I reached out to fitbit yesterday and was told someone would contact me about this.  Crickets.  My wife and I have been using fitbit for many years and recently my children.  My oldest has the charge 4.... No problem... The ace 2 band is no good.  A recall needs to be done or something.  I also have photos if interested.  I feel sorry for my son... He is excited about our fitbit challenges and yet the rash.

@Hanging10 Have you watched him wash his hands while wearing it? For my child, I realized that he wasn’t getting his wrist rinsed and dried off well enough after washing his hands. Water and soap would sit under the band and cause that rash. As soon as I showed him how to rinse and dry off properly (drying his wrist and the band), the rash never came back.

Thank you so much! It could be the reason.

Thanks for that suggestion.  In our son's case when washing his hands, he usually is only washing his hands and not up his wrist where he has his fitbit.  But if he wears it anymore, we will definitely be sure to pay extra attention to that.
