Ace 2 is unresponsive

My daughters Ace 2 is unresponsive.  Screen is just black as if run out of battery.   I have followed the steps to restart it (plugged in to charger, holding button for 5 secs) and still nothing!  It's less than a year old so hate to think I'm going to have to buy another one!  Can anyone help me please
