Ace 2 registering too many steps

My son’s Fitbit Ace 2 has been regularly recording 5-10000 steps per day since he got it a couple month ago. In the last couple weeks it’s been telling him he’s done well over 10000 steps even on days he hasn’t left the house. Today I picked him up from school and he had done 6000, then after he watched tv for an hour it said he’d reached 10000. I checked the app and it said he’d been doing thousands of steps while sitting on the lounge. I looked back at previous weeks and it’s happened around the same time each day. Any ideas what’s going on??

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Leish88.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your concern about your son's Ace 2 tracking steps accurately. Thank you for providing the additional details, I am glad to assist you. The tracker is a motion sensor on the wrist and I recommend confirming the following are correct in the Fitbit app:

  1. The wrist setting (For more information, see Does the wrist I wear my device on affect accuracy?)
  1. Your son's height (For more information, see How do I manage my Fitbit profile?)

For more information about the accuracy of the Fitbit devices, please see here

Keep me posted on the outcome.
