Failing to re-connect Ace 3 to Fitbit app

My son was gifted an Ace 3 and at times it disconnected from my Fitbit app. His profile is a child profile under my Family account. The device is charged, and I am trying to reconnect the Fitbit to my app now.

I’ve tried following the instructions from Help guide to add the device but when I switch to his google account (child profile) Fitbit won’t let me progress, with the error “You can’t use Fitbit with this google account” when it was previously connected. Has anyone encountered this issue and managed to move past it?

Is the email associated with the account a Gmail account or have you at least moved all your data to a Google account?  That may be part of the issue.

Hey Kristen, the email associated with the account is a Gmail account. When we started with Fitbit it had already been taken over by Google so we did not see the point of signing up for yet another account.

Thank you for clarifying.  Is this a privately owned Gmail or a Gmail that's owned by an organization (such as a school or business)?

It should be a privately owned Gmail - how can I be certain of this?

Ok just wanted be sure. I'm not at my computer at the moment, so let me marinate on this for the next day or so.
