Fit bit ace 2 and syncing with a split family

Hi all,

I got my step daughter a fitbit ace 2 for Christmas. She loves it.

When she goes to her mums house she is very disappointed that she cant log in and sync her fitbit with her mums phone.

She syncs with my ipad at our home.

Are we doing something wrong?

I've read a few different things saying they can be only synced to one device but then another post said to just log out and in on another device and sync it.

If it really can only be synced to one device she is going to be very disappointed. She doesn't have a device that is carried between homes.

Hello @Starhannahpc and a warm welcome.  I need to start by saying that I haven't actually done this.  I read through the Family Account Help article and I think (hope) this is the answer for you.

A Family Account can have more than one guardian.  If you make her mum a guardian, then your stepdaughter should be able to sync through her mum's phone.  Her mum does not need to have a Fitbit tracker, just an account.

The issue with syncing to one device comes from Notifications.  When Notifications are turned ON, the Ace 2 makes a tight Bluetooth bond to that device.  You might need to turn Notifications OFF in order to sync with another device.

I hope this works.  If not, I hope someone else chimes in with a better answer.
