Hi All,
I am new to the community and not that Techy, so please bear with me with my amateur questions. Looking for some expert answers, potentially from the Admins / long time members.
I have a son, he is 5 years old, turning 6 this year. born in 2013. I have set up a child account under my personal account, which went well, so this part is great already
So far, all starts in the sky seem to be aligned perfectly. My question is, when I buy either Ace or Ace 2, I have read it a few times its minimum age is 8 but would it work for my case for my 6 year old son ? if not why ? more to the Privacy GDPR issue ? or more to the Data that isnt compatible ( the device/tracket ) with my kid age bracket ?
I dont want to purchase AUD$150 max for this device for my son and knowing it wont let me add it to the account. Odd thing is that it allowed me to setup the child's account although i didnt lie about the age anyway, so I presume it is ok then just to buy the device/tracker, then pair it after ?
Just in case I misunderstood the whole thing or missed a single beat, better just be asking this beautiful community.
Thanks much and Regards,
Armi Lo

Hello @Armi_Lo, it's good to see you around in the Community forums.
Thank you for your inquiry about the age limit for Fitbit Ace, as you've read in the articles or other information online, the recommended age for Ace is 8+, but you should be able to set it up for a younger child as well, just as you were able to create the child account you mentioned.
However, since the device is designed for children 8+, it is not guaranteed that calories and other information recorded will be completely accurate, because the user wearing the device would be younger than the age specified.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have other questions.

@Armi_Lo If your son does any swimming at all, you might want to wait until the Ace 2 is available. It is waterproof to 50 m. The packaging advertises age 6 and up.
When my children were young, they spent their summers swimming. The original Ace is not waterproof like the Ace 2. Something you might want to know before you hand over the money.

@Grandma64 The release date is only listed as mid 2019. It doesn't look like it will be available for Easter.

@Grandma64 Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Sorry for the delayed response.
Thank you for your interest in the Fitbit Ace 2. According to the press release, it will be available in stores and online beginning summer 2019. The bands for Fitbit Ace different are compared to the Ace 2, so they can't exchange between them.
@LZeeW Thanks for your support.

Hello @Grandma64! It's good to see you around in the Community forums. Unfortunately we haven't received any other updates regarding the cost for Ace 2, so I wouldn't be able to confirm this information at the moment.
Excellent, thank you @LZeeW!
