4 digit code not showing

Trying to setup my new Alta hr and I have downloaded the app and plugged the fitbit in but it does not show the  4 digit on the tracker display.  Does it have to be fully charged before it shows up? I have plugged and unplugged several times and I get the message to to to fitbit  setup.com but no 4 digit code

How did you fix it? My Charge 4 still won't show the 4 digits on its screen, also it doesn't display the smiley face when I plug it in the charger
