Alta HR blank display

I have had my Alta HR for a little over a month, as I loved the silent alarm option. One morning it didn't go off. And assumed it was low battery. Went to charge it and display showed almost full charge. Weird but maybe it was a glitch.

 

5 minutes later the display turned off again. (Never got it wet). Each time I charge it the display turns on and lasts for a few minutes but then turns back off again shortly thereafter. I tried the press button on cable slowly a few times, but that did not work, either.

 

I'm at a loss of what else to try, or just suck up the fact that the fitbit died before we got started together.
