Alta comes with the ability to set up and receive call, text, and calendar notifications on iOS and Android.
This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Alta, please see this help page.
- How do I set up call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?
- Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices.
- On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby!
- Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile Dashboard.
- Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap "Notifications" (iOS) or "Call and Text Notifications (Android) and then turn on call/text/calendar notifications.
- To verify that set up was successful, check out the list of Bluetooth connected devices on your mobile device. Your Alta should appear.
- How do I view call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?
You can view your notifications when they come in by using Quick View or by double-tapping the Alta where the band and tracker meet.
Notes:
- For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App.
- Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or selected 3rd party app on Android.
- Windows Phones do not support alerts at this time.

I'm sure you've figured it out by now but for the next person to look through here...
Mine was doing the same, all the setting correct, had to reboot my phone before it worked.
Then it was all good.

@ErickFitbit I see now that FitBit does not support call and text notifications for Windows 10 (wish I had known this before I bought my Alta and upgraded to a Windows 10 phone from my 8.1 to support it...). Is FitBit not intending to EVER support this feature? If so, I will return my Alta and go back to my Flex. I'm pretty disappointed that FitBit (I've been a user for nearly 3 years and have been pretty pleased) would just drop a whole segment of the market like this, especially without making it abundantly clear that the major selling points for this product doesn't exist for this OS. While it was fairly easy to find that only Windows 10 phones were supported for Alta, it took quite a bit of digging to find that, while I could now sync with my phone, I can't use the primary selling point of this product.

I am still having the same problem. I've followed the instructions that are in the first post at the beginning of this thread. I've restarted/reset my tracker. I've restarted my phone. I've removed the app and reinstalled the app. I've unlinked and re-linked the Alta to the app. I thought maybe it was the messaging app that I use since its not the default one on the phone, (Samsung S7) but then the notifications were working with that messaging app on my Samsung S4. I have a notification on the drop down menu of the phone that says Fitbit Notifications are Active, but the notifications actually coming through to my Alta are SUPER sparatic. Not even half of them are coming through on the Alta. I think my phone just doesn't like the Alta. 😞

Thanks for trying to help, I'm so frustrated! But yes, everything in notifications is turned on. I'm getting calendar notifications as a wrist buzz, but not calls or texts. 😞

Clearly they are crap after reading all these posts.
I wonder how long I have to wait for someone from Fitbit support to contact me!!
I am taking mine back to JB HiFi for a refund. It is only 2 days old!
I will buy a Garmin instead.

@Irish As @Bgailr312 said above, the Alta does not have an altimeter, which is the reason why it doesn't track floors. Since Alta does not have the hardware to track floors there is no plan to update it to track floors.
@Megan_C Once the S7 is listed here, it means that it has been fully tested for compatibility with the Fitbit App for Android. I recommend checking out that page from time-to-time as that's what we will update once it's fully supported.
@LauraA88 In order to see the notifications on the Alta, you must interact with the Alta as the notifications will not illuminate the display otherwise.
@Aristillus @Flea1957 I recommend restarting your Alta and then going through the troubleshooting steps outlined here. Also, @Kmransom123's suggestion should help you get back on track.
@Sky_Belle Is your Alta connected to both your iPhone and iPad? Try unpairing it from one to see if it's not an interference issue.
@Ksprotten Thanks for sharing what worked for you! Hoping your suggestion will help someone else here.
@forrester I recommend checking out @RickyFitbit's post here about Windows and Alta.
@SunsetRunner The Samsung S7 is not listed as a supported device on this list, which explains why you're experiencing issues with notifications.

I appreciate your time in answering my post. I was under the impression from an earlier post that even though the S7 isn't on the list (since that was the first thing I looked at) was that notifications might still be able to work. Are there any plans for the Fitbit to test out the S7 and get it on the list? It is a pretty popular phone so I'd be surprised and frankly disapointed if it wasn't.
Thanks again.

@SunsetRunner There are definitely plans to get the S7 tested and listed as a supported device, I just don't have a timeframe to share of when that will take place. Rest assured that we're always working to get more phones added to that list and recommend keeping an eye on it as that's where it will be added once it's fully tested.
@Josnz Great news! Thanks for taking the time to update me.

It would be really nice if Fitbit could get the Alta to work correctly with phones that are already listed as supported before they start moving towards adding even more phones. In the end I kept my Alta but I only get text and calendar notifications and every once in a blue moon I get a call notification (very sporadic and limited). I've done everything known to Fitbit support and mankind to try to get it fully functional. Hoping one day it will just start working right.

I recently purchased a new phone and now my text messages and phone notifications do not show. It is an Android 5.1.1 Version, ZTE Z959. Are there any plans to make the fitbit compataible with this phone? It didn't occur to me when I purchased the phone. I'm highly disappointed, as I just bought a second fitbit and my husband also has the fitbit and the same phone now.
