My Alta is charged, had a firmware update. It is connected and syncing. The display screen is visible when connected to charger but when disconnected the screen is blank. I have reset the Alta numerous times, but no change. Any help appreciated.

Try a restart. Do it at least 3 times.

@McTrusty It's great o have you aboard in the Fitbit Community! In addition to the suggestions that my friend @WendyB shared, try cleaning the contacts of your Alta with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol. Once this has been done, restart your tracker one more time and check out if the issue gets corrected.
Keep @WendyB and me posted on the outcome my friend!

I had same issue with my fitbit Alta HR, I did restart many times without help, as it keeps turning off once unplugged from charging. Support team had been contacted and looks like there is no way to fix the issue and solve it, after investigation, support team confirmed that there is an issue with the battery (basically they said the battery is Defective!), and I am out from my 1 x year warranty..
Just to highlight here and from my previous experience - ( I had Garmin vivoSmart smart band), both VivoSmart and Alta HR, stopped working after 1 x year from the purchase date.
so as a conclusion here, the average life of those bands is 1-2 years, do not expect to long last, however it is designed for long lasting, but it didn't work with me..
Anyway, Alta HR is nice and worth to try it.
Thanks for the community and support team for help and support.

Tamarah
