Hi @Michelle1943, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Let me share with you that the battery of our Alta HR was designed to last 5 days, but this also depends on how frequently you use all the features of your device. That said, I recommend you charging your Fitbit device with a USB port from a computer or a UL-certified outlet into the wall and then turn off all the features that you don’t use that much.

After following the above information, please check this help article for more tips and recommendations. Such article includes as restart process that will refresh the device's performance.

Keep me posted, I’ll be right here if you need anything else.

Mine will charge but the battery won't last the day.  I charged it last night before I went to bed.  I chose not wear it to bed.  When I awoke the battery was dead.  Charged again this morning and it was dead by 5:00pm.  I only wore it from 1pm to 5pm.  I have tried charging through computer and UL-certified outlet.  I also tried the reset option. Nothing seems to be working.  It is about 3 years old.  I literally am only getting hours out of a fully charged battery.  And this seemed to come about overnight.

Same as mine.

I’ve got the same issue, it’s happened a couple of times over the last few days. I charged mine yesterday up to 100% and this morning it is completely empty and I only wore it from 3pm yesterday to 8am this morning. Why is it draining so quickly? It usually lasts a week!

I am having the same issue. I have tried all the suggestions and it won’t keep a charge for more than a few hours. Is there anything that can be done to fix this or is it just dead and I will need to order a new one??

I’m having the same problem. I just put it on after charging it overnight and again this morning and it already says it is at 25%. It has never most a charge so fast. Usually lasts 5 days and gives me a low battery warning. Once I get that warning the charge will usually last until the end of the day. The last two days I’ve looked at the display and it’s been completely depleted. Seems like it is dying. Which is bogus.

Battery won't charge nor restart and I have:

1) Cleaned prongs

2) Cleaned contacts on Alta HR

3) pressed restart button on cable 3 times

4) plugged into wall

5) plugged into computer

6) Verified and validated all fitbit published remedies

7) Will fitbit stand by its product?

Thanks for the checklist. Did all of the suggestions, my FitBit still died after 25 minutes.

For now I am going to enjoy not be tethered to a step counter for a while.

I’m not planning on replacing. This is my third. While it has lasted longer than my other two models, I’m tired of investing money in products that have a built in failure date.

I am currently on hold with FitBit ... 1st representative claimed to have technical knowledge,  however his only remedy after twice instructing me to reset the device (using the bottom on the charging cable) was to offer some coupon to buy another device!

WTF

I've had my Alta HR for approx 2-3 yrs and it's worked well (Sync-ing with my Samsung S7 was always problematic) until 3 days ago.

Why would I invest in another expensive device if it's expected lifespan is approx 2-3 yrs

Hi Ricardo,

I just wanted to get this string your attention. As you can see there are a bunch of people who have the same problem. Battery not holding a charge despite all of the suggested remedies. Seems to me that these devices have a built in expiration date.

I don’t think many of us are looking to invest again.

Agreed, the worst part is that this was a Christmas gift from my parents. The EOL (end of life) for this product is short. It’s been a big runaround and no real answers. I thought better of Fitbit because my dad chose this gadget. Fitbit is making my dad look bad. I haven’t told him yet.
