Bought Alta yesterday, same old problem

I have the exact same problem of this topic https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Alta-Alta-HR/New-Alta-display-not-working-unless-charging/td-p/16007...

When it's connected to charger, works. If i disconnect and let it sleep, won't turn on without the charger.

I bought yesterday!!!

Hi, @Matukk , unfortunately if it is an Alta that you bought yesterday, even though it is new to you, it will be a very old device - years old.  Even if new and in the box the battery almost certainly will be completely useless due to its age, particularly if the battery has been left for a considerable period of time deeply discharged.  This is not unique to Fitbits - all rechargeable batteries degrade over time.

Your best recourse is to contact the seller, report the device as useless and ask to have your money refunded.  Your bank or credit card company may be able to help you if the seller refuses.

I am sorry not to have better news for you.  Welcome to the forums!

Hi @Matukk unfortunately there are no facilities for Fitbit repairs.  But if you bought it at a shop in an airport I don’t think it can be a Fitbit Alta, as that tracker was discontinued years ago.  Would you be able to post a picture of the packaging or of the device itself?  If we know what kind of Fitbit it is we may be able to help further.

Hi, @Matukk , please get in touch with Fitbit Customer Support on Contact.Fitbit.com .  I would recommend emailing them so that you can share these photos with them.  If Hudson Group are authorised retailers, then they should be able to help you.

Good luck.  Let us know how it goes.

@Matukk   I can see that there is a refund email address on the receipt.  I think you should contact Hudson directly by email.  Hudson isn’t on the US authorized retailer list in the US.

Shame on them for selling an item that was discontinued several years ago.

If you put your Fitbit on your ankle when you ride your spin bike, then you just don’t get it.

@Matukk , have you tried Hudson?  I think under US law the seller is responsible.

@Matukk your "news" from databreachtoday is from January 11, 2016. It's well over six and a half years ago. When you purchase from an authorized retailer, you have more options when there is a problem. When you purchase from a third party retailer, especially a device that was discontinued many years ago, it makes it harder. You'll need to get with the original seller and whatever their return policy might be.
