False Active Minutes

I've had Alta HR from start of 2019 and it worked perfectly all these years. from last 3 months, apart from reduced battery life, it has started recording false active minutes when I am not wearing the watch and sometimes it goes up to 1200 active minutes. I have to take if off often as its not waterproof. I have tried putting it in a box so it doesn't get affected by air but the same thing happens every time. Its extremely annoying to delete those active minutes a ruin the entire sync with My fitness pal. I have tried resetting the device but it didn't work. Also the two green tracker lights seem a lot brighter than they used to be as if the sensor is in a hyperdrive. What should I do? Is the tracker just done? how many years do these trackers usually last?
