Heart Rate Monitor Quits When I Take Band Off

Subject says it all, every time I remove my HR, the heart rate monitor quits. This is a recent, past 3 months, issue. Is this a known thing?  If I could restart it on the fitbit or via the app I could live with the problem, however can only do it via the charger(terrible design choice). It's a little over 2 years old, so this is a hail mary to see if there is a fix or possible replacement before I move away from fitbit.

Do I understand correctly? You are upset that it does not measure a heart rate when you take the tracker off your wrist?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Nope, sorry for the confusion. The heart rate turns off at some point after I take it off, so when I put it back on the heart rate doesn't work.

Your trackers heart rate is suppose to turn off when it doesn't detect a heart rate.. It is monitoring light levels and should send a few pulses if it detects the tracker has been moved.

Is your heart rate set for auto or on?

I think I sorted the issue out. I suspect one of the app updates changed the Heart Rate monitor settings. While it did show Auto, I toggled it Off then back to Auto. Since then it has not turned off and not turned back on.
