Heart rate no longer being recorded with GPS tracked run

Hiya,

I have a new issue with my fitbit. When I track a run from my phone (to be able to see GPS route and split pace), my heart rate is no longer recorded with the entry.

I can log the run manually afterwards and then I see my heart rate, but obviously there isn't any attached GPS data.

This is a new issue and the same fitbit used to record my associated heart rate whenever I tracked a run from my phone.

I've chatted to FitBit support about this, and got a less than satisfactory response that said "It is not possible to have both the GPS and HR data with the Alta HR".

However, this is clearly not the case...I have screenshots of old runs showing GPS and heart rate tracked with a run!

Support had previously said "we can confirm that this is a rare issue"...so clearly it is an issue.

Anyway, what's the point of having a heart rate tracker that doesn't track your heart rate during exercise, it would be bizarre.

I've also seen threads on here from people with various fitbits that have had the same problem.

Does anyone have a fix? This is seriously frustrating, even without getting seemingly fobbed off by support.

Thanks!

So according to the reps, getting heart rate information paired with GPS was a bug for the four years I had my Alta HR? Pairing the two pieces of information is pretty important when training for marathons, I can't see a vital feature being a "bug". The bug was disabling that feature July 29, 2019.

I guess my next step is contacting support, which I've been putting off due to Fitbit's banner stating wait times are "longer than usual". Ugh.

Yesterday I discovered that there IS heart rate information available with GPS for the Alta HR. When you go to your dashboard, click "Excercise" and swipte left four times on the upper portion of the screen. There is a verticle bar graph with your stats.

Not as easily accessable as it was previously and a little hard to read in my opinion, but there it is.

I have exactly the same issue with two different Inspire HR's, its not the device its the software interface. Tracing this back in the forum, its been apparent for over 12 months and reported multiple times. If I run without GPS map tracking on my phone, and just from the watch, it records all the HR data. As soon as I run from the app on my phone to GPS, its all lost. Just reports no enough data available. Which is clearly BS as the watch is recording it constantly. Fitbit are fully aware, and have been nothing but appalling in there approach to rectifying this critical issue. I'm on a replacement inspire as the first crashed after 13 months and was not repairable. When this one dies,, its bye bye Fitbit and onto something that actually works by a company that actually gives a **ahem** about their product and their customers. What a bunch of 🤡

Hi @the3amigos gps is not available to the Alta when the Alta is tracking a run.

If you are tracking a run with GPS you are using the Fitbit app, not the Alta hr to track the run.

Using the Fitbit app to track the run will not collect the heart rate.

So even thought the heart rate information is available within the app (I can see it if I look under the historical heart information) it can't be paired with the run tracker part of the app? Bizarre!
