Welcome to the Fitbit Community @fitty-bitty567! I´ll be glad to assist you with your Fitbit Alta inquiry. Thank you for letting us know that you have already tried restarting the device.

Does your Fitbit turn on when it´s not charging? Is the battery charged? What are you able to see when your device is charging?

I´ll be waiting for your responses.

I just got my Fitbit Alta 4 months ago and this happens. Very disappointed. I tried restarting my Fitbit Alta multiple times by clicking the button 3 times within 8 seconds but it still does not work. Please can someone tell me how to fix this issue.

I have the same issue.  Battery is fully charged, phone app confirms this, but the fitbit won't work once unplugged.  Works fine while plugged in.  Resetting the fitbit does nothing.

Facing the same issue. Alta displays all data only when plugged in to charger. Tried cleaning part and restart step too. No progress. Same issue again.

I have also been having the same problem for several months. I bought a new charger cord as previously instructed. I've rebooted many many times. And yet, it only works when plugged in. The app says it's charged.  Help!!

Did anyone solve this issue? I am having the same problem...

Best Answer

Same here!

First I restarted my Alta, but it still shuts off as soon as I unplug it from the charger.

Then I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it. Problem remains.

So I bought a new charger, in case the old one were the problem. Nothing new, still the problem remains.

What do I do?? This was not issue with my Gen1 Fitbit…

NOPE, I've had the same problem for several months now. Still looking for the correct fix☹

Same thing happening to my son's Alta. Plug it in, display shows and it syncs to the app. As soon as he puts it on the screen switches it off.

Best Answer

Same!!! Did you ever find a solution?

Best Answer

Nope! And it doesn't appear as though the company has either. Personally,  I don't even think the company cares and hopes we will just give up and buy a newer version of their problems. I refuse to go that route.

Same problem exactly.

I would return it to wherever you bought it, if you can. It doesn't look
like the company has any interest in addressing this on going issue. 😟

Ended up buying a new Charge 4. I took the Alta to UBreakIFix and they said it is the battery. Possibly could have overheated in FL sun. Walmart carried the battery and tool kit but I couldn't do it and UBIF wanted more than buying a new unit.  I gave up. Several people having this issue I tend to think Fitbit knows of the issue and that we end up buying a new unit.  They know what they're doing. Especially when no one offers to help.  Charge 4 is okay. Again, not nearly as bright as I need it to be outdoors when running in sunlight.  Might jump to an Apple Watch next time.
