When I double tap the screen My alta won't wake up, it seems to go into a deep sleep mode, doesn't track anything, the second I connect the charger it reboots, shows the fitbit logo and the firmware version, then starts as normal.
About an hour or so later though, it goes back into a deep sleep, and only the USB cable being connected awakens it.
The battery is fully charged, currently at 96%, and when I awaken it with the charging cable, and get it to sync it still shows the battery as fully charged, the same as when I sync it off the cable, so I'm 100% sure its not a battery charge issue.
I've tried resetting it using the USB button, I've removed it from my account and re-added it, I even uninstalled the app, removed it from paired devices, and reinstalled from scratch, and still it won't stay awake.
I'm seeing so many people on here with the same or similar issues, could it be a software/firmware issue?
My Alta is doing the same thing! Got it for Christmas and it worked for a month or so..then started losing charge quickly, and didn’t always sync..Pulled it out again last week, and tried again..it charged right up, but as soon as I disconnected from the charge cord, it would drop right down and I could not wake it up..looked in here for ideas and restarted it several times..as long as it’s attached to the cord, it’s great! But as soon as I disconnect it, it goes black and I can’t wake it up...So what now?
Best AnswerI notified support, I got the generic "Is it charged, have you tried resetting it" email.
They really don't care, I know its an older fitbit, but I still expect it to work for more than a few years before breaking.
So I guess I'll look for a new device, I know it wont be a fitbit though. 1 star, would not recommend.
I replied to you, however, my post was removed because they say it was inflammatory, although it was not, just had info comparing it to the Apple iPhone X situation that happened a few years ago.

Best AnswerI thought I was doing something wrong until I read this thread. Turns out I’ve been doing exactly the same, recharging, deleting app, reading app, etc. The Alta won’t perform apart from being charged....once in my wrist....nada. Frustrating and useless.
Best AnswerIt's the battery. The battery can't hold any charge so the Fitbit revives as soon as it is connected to power and shows the battery full because full is a very small amount. It's possible to replace the battery if you are handy.
