Steps won't sync

I just got an alta hr from a friend and the steps are not syncing. The app even had steps in before I synced the fitbit. I tried turning Bluetooth on and off, refreshed/restarted the fitbit, Uninstalled then reinstalled the app, and also restarted my phone. Nothing is working. Help.
