I have been given a fitbit alta and the person who gave me has deleted their account but when I am on the app and try to add my device it works until it takes me to a page called ‘not working’ and it stays on that screen permanently. The screen has 3 options on what to do if it isn’t working and I have tried them all but the screen does not change from that and at the bottom it just says ‘searching’ and i’ve sat for at least 10 minutes waiting and tried everything I can think of to sync it. In my bluetooth connections the fitbit doesn’t appear also. I have an iphone 8 and everything is up to date

Was the original owner nearby when you tried setting it up on your phone? If so, make sure that (as well as deleting their account) they "forget" any link to the fitbit in their phone's bluetooth settings as this could be blocking connection to your phone.
