My alta isn't always showing me the restless periods during sleep. It accurately shows the times I wake and get up during the night.
Initially it would do this occasionally, but now it is doing it every 2nd or 3rd night.
In the past I have tried updating the software and restarting the alta by pressing the button on the power cord.
Anyone able to help? Or do I need to send it back?

Hey @SSAUS!
It is possible that, during the nights that no restless moments were recorded, you didn't move that much or your movement were very subtle and thus the tracker didn't recognize them.
Having said that, we could try to change the sensibility of the sleep tracking and you should see and improvement. To do that, please follow these steps:
1. Log into the Fitbit app and tap on the 'Account' tab.
2. Look for the 'Advanced Settings' option and select it.
3. All the way to the bottom you should see an option for Sleep Sensitivity. If it is not on 'Sensitive' please change it to that.
4. Sync your Fitbit Alta. The tracker should be much more sensitive whenever you're sleeping.
Please let me know how it goes or if the setting was already on sensitive.

My app has no sleep sensitivity setting (last setting is stride length.) I have a Fitbit Charge HR. Could it be that it has no sleep sensitivity setting. My problem is that the recording misses significant periods during the night. For example, last night it recorded that I went to sleep aroung 10:50 pm (which was close) and sleep until 1:29 am when it stopped recording. It started again at 3:38 am. So what happened during the more than 3 hour gap? Night before it didn't start recording sleep until 4:11 am. At 80 years of age you can bet I'm not staying up until 4 in the morning. The night before that there was a 45 minute gap. Night before a three and a half gap. None of these gaps indicate I was awake. I doubt there was a breeze on my wrist. My wife does not snor and there is no other movement of air in the room. Now, on occasion I do get up to go to the bathroom but it never takes more that a couple minutes.

Hello @Denure! Welcome to the Fitbit Community.
It's strange that you get no sleep sensitivity setting on the app. Based on what you're describing I do think that accessing that setting is important. There is another way to find it, by going to our website instead of the app. Please follow these instructions:
1. Go to Fitbit.com and then log into your account.
2. Go to the settings. You can click on here to get there.
3. Scroll down until you see the Sleep Sensitivity setting.
Change it to sensitive if it is not there, or change it to normal if it is sensitive and give it a test night.
Please let me know how it goes!

Found the setting on web page. It was at normal. I changed to sensitive. I'll give it a couple nights and see how it goes. Appreciate you help.

Ive gone in to change my sleep sensitivity because mine was on normal but it wont let me change the settings until I fix the error. The error being my birthday 02/10/1991 and its saying you must be 13 years or older...so I tried putting myself even older but that didnt work 😂

Sorry, but I've given up all together on Fitbit. Don't think they are suitable for active people (who sweat, get dirty, etc.) I've tried to care for my units but it isn't long before they fall apart or quit holding a charge (or as this question concerns: not recording sleep or some other measure accurately.) I also was frustrated that I could not eliminate various foods from my lists. I had items come up that I had only eaten once. They took up space and I was not able to eliminate them from the list. Anyway, sorry I'm so negative but Fitbit just hasn't worked for me or my spouse.
