Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Hey Everyone!
Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).
For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here.
We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.
I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.
Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.
Fitbit Update: 8/19/18
We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.
Thanks for your patience!

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums.
Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.
In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

This is absurd. Every update is, "Sorry, no updates yet!". I have no skin in this game, because I no longer have a Fitbit (thank God). I keep following this saga, however. It angers me that Fitbit acknowledges that their Android app doesn't work, won't fix it, but continues to market to Android users and happily takes our money. There is life outside of Fitbit. Get a Garmin. I have the Vivoactive 3, and it works as it should.

Great. I wasn't planning on getting a new tracker until late November. Not sure I like this at all.

Yes, this is what's happening for me with my flex on my Pixel. If I reset the flex, it will connect and I can get one update, but it will not stay connected. If I want to know how many steps I have or my sleep,I have to take it off, plug it in, and reset it again.I agree, this is ridiculous, and the correction should not take this long. If this was happening to iPhone users,I wonder how quickly they would've gotten the patch out!

I removed my Fitbit Charge 2 from my connected Bluetooth devices. on my OnePlus 6. It started to sync again and all syncs still works, but all notifications are wonky. They dont work at all.

This is insane! It's been 3 weeks and there's no fix. The app doesn't even find my Fitbit to pair it, much less sync it. I've tried every option offered in this forum and still nothing. What are you guys at Fitbit doing about it? Should I just go to another company - this is incredibly disappointing. I'm not recommending Fitbit to anyone anymore.

Just upgraded my Nokia 7 Plus to Android P. The Fitbit app is on the latest version but can't sync any longer.
Tried deleting the device and reconnecting. But now on the device setup screen it just says found it and then turns up with Bluetooth issues! Restarted both devices... Nothing helps!

Pixels, OnePlus and now Nokia is joining this club.
With more and more OEMs pushing out Android Pie to their customers, Fitbit has to act fast!

Unfortunately, no. FitBit doesn't feel the need to act fast or even resolve the problem at all. Their answer is to remove your phone from the supported list so they are magically compliant. I was told I selected the wrong phone and should select my phone based upon what FitBit supports! If not fixed shortly I am switching to another device vendor. I worry how long it has taken to fix Android Pie issues and this will happen with each Android release.

No updates, huh, for an issue that's been going on for 2 months now? Ridiculous. Fitbit obviously does not care about their Android customers. Time for me to start looking for another tracker from a competing company.
For the record, I have a Pixel XL and have not been able to sync since I updated to Pie. I've tried all the fixes here, with no luck.
I now take grim satisfaction in watching Fitbit's stock price plummet.

(Edit: Guess we were thinking along the same lines, eh @jaymz462? )
Thinking about this some more, it might be that there's an elephant in the room--Fitbit's stock price. As I type this, it's hovering around its previous low. In fact, if I'm reading the charts correctly, it just hit a new low a couple hours ago. This is not how a healthy company's stock should be behaving.
The fact of the matter is, the problem we're all experiencing may not really be solely a technological problem. It may boil down to the company's inability to devote resources to the problem. The number of open positions on their careers page may well be an indication of the state of their engineering organization...
