Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Well, someone is paying attention. They removed my post about bagels and warned me about "inflammatory" posts. We're supposed to be patient, but they have no sense of humor. Time to go shopping and give up my almost 7 years of history with Fitbit.

I suggested the staff might be incompetent. My suggestion was also removed.

Two months and no updates?  That says everything.  I remember when my ultra died and I called to upgrade. I didn't ask for anything but back then, Fitbit had customer service. They gave me and my wife 1/2 off of the One.  I'm still using it, or at least I was.

FitBit One 6.64

Pixel 2XL latest app

I tried the only remaining workaround, which is to delete the One from my account and then re-add it.

This gave me a hopeful 12 hours of synching... but then no more. Am back to using the windows 10 app.

I note that when i added the One back in the FitBit notification was always there, the same as what happens with the 'Keep-Alive Widget', although i didn't have the keepalive box ticked. I only have All-Day Sync ticked (optimistically) .

After restarting my phone, the notification went, and so did any ability to sync either with the app open or closed etc.

What worked for me was to pair it manually in Bluetooth settings

This is honestly ridiculous like it's been so long now and I still cannot sync my flex 2 to my phone. This is a core part of the value I get from my Fitbit that has been nonexistent these last few weeks.

How long does it take to rectify this ?

My Fitbit hasn't been able to sync since 10/1 and now my time is incorrect so I can't even use my expensive smart watch as a dumb watch for telling time. This is very frustrating and disappointing.

Hello

I followed this guide. Tried to sync Fitbit and then went to Bluetooth
setting and paired it manually.

As the article said, it dies not work for everyone. I'm one of the "lucky" people that it does NOT work for (Pixel and Fitbit flex), but thank you for trying to help the situation.

Pixel1 XL with Fitbit one. This worked for me as well, but we'll see if it syncs later. I'm able to manually sync by opening the Fitbit App, then plugging my One into the Dongle and resetting it. It usually syncs. If not, I restart my phone then try the process again. It always syncs.

Mine is now working.

Fitbit version 2.74.2 (I had backtracked versions), Fitbit One, Pixel2 with Pie and Oct. Security update.

It started synching two days ago. I am assuming that the various Google app/system programs that I have been updating has fixed the issue.

I'm not going to jump forward in versions as of yet as I like it working but I'm thinking it will work.

My takeaway is make sure you are updating your Google app/system apps. And by that I mean the ones in the Google play store. Some look to be underlying program apps.

Any updates? I haven't been able to sync with my phone for 3 weeks. The display on my charge 2 went black about a year ago so I'm scared to unpair and repair. I'm not sure if repairing displays a code on the Fitbit that needs to be entered in the app. But I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app multiple times.

So I did a factory reset of my Pixel 1 on Saturday and while it synced properly before (also Android 9) and until approx. 24 hrs after the reset, I can't get the sync to work again. I hope you'll find a fix soon!

This is actually getting ridiculous now. You need to fix this ASAP. No updates from you for almost 2 weeks! Could you at least give us another update?

The device is unusable at the moment.

This is how you lose customers.

It's beyond ridiculous. This problem was reported in early August. Android 9.0 was available in beta months before that. There's simply no excuse for this, or for the lack of communication on the issue.
