Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Hi, I have just updated my One Plus A5010 update A5010_43_181205  and now my Charge 3 is not syncing. What do you reccomend?

I have rebooted the Charge 3, I have uninstalled and installed again the fitbid app, still nothing happens.

 Thanks!

Just spent hours with Fitbit's support. Nothing works you need a compatible device. https://www.fitbit.com/uk/devices

@Asmi73 try a phone factory reset. Remember to back your data up first.

No update on this problem in over 2 months... This is insane and need to be fixed.  My wife and I are already prepared to jump ship and find a new fitness tracker.

I can't sync my charge 3 with my Xiaomi.

When will Fitbit get this done?

How much time do we have to wait?

Do we need to change to iOS to get our trackers to sync?

Nokia 6.1 with Android Pie.   Every few days it says it can't find my Fitbit Charge 2 HR. I have the Fitbit app set for All-Day Sync, Always Connected and Keep-Alive Widget.  Changing these settings doesn't seem to help consistently.  Repeatedly attempting a manual sync by pulling down the screen of the app does not fix the problem. What does eventually work is to shutdown and restart my phone. Sometimes it will sync after one restart and sometimes it takes 2 or 3 restarts. It will then work for several days or weeks before I need to repeat.  Have not figured out if there is anything that triggers the problem.

My phone is not on the compatible device list. It's a Sony Xperia XZ3. It had Android Pie installed when I got it.

It has worked flawlessly with my Flex ever since 2.83 was installed.

I'm using a OnePlus 5T and I got it to work by doing this. First I removed the device from my Fitbit app on my phone and deleted it from Bluetooth settings. Then I used a second Android phone I had to install Fitbit onto it and paired my Charge 3 to that phone. Once it got synced to the second phone, it automatically popped up on my primary phones Fitbit app. I then disconnected the Bluetooth from my second phone and the sync worked.

Just updated my Nokia 7 Plus to Pie and it's syncing with my Charge 3 as well as it did on Oreo before the update, better if anything -- i.e. I sometimes have to turn Bluetooth off and on to get it to sync.

After the update I did have to uninstall the fitbit app, remove the Charge 3 from Bluetooth settings and then reinstall the app and re-pair the tracker, but I only had to do that once (so far...).

Phone: Nokia 7 plus (model no. TA-1055)

Android Version: 9 with 1 Dec Security update

fitbit App Version: 2.83

Tracker: Charge 3

Tracker Firmware: 28.20001.44.33

at this rate there won't be any android phones compatible.

my nokia 6.0 was ok, then w Oreo 8 it was ok, sometimes, until fitbit upgraded the app to 2.83 (presumably for Pie?) then it completely broke it.

Hi, Just found a solution!

I have unpaired my charge 3 from the app and then paired it again as if it was a  new device.

Now it works perfectly ana I have not lost any previous data!

Can not sync fitbit versa since the last 3 days. Have faceed sync problem with versa few times since I bought it.

Tried everything, restarting versa, restating phone, restating bluetooth, cleaning app cache, removing all bluetooth devices from phone, nothing works. The app is updated.

Everytime I try to sync I get the ''Bluetooth Issue'' message.

have been a fitbit user from last 4 years, maybe its time to switch to something else, if the device can't be synced reliably, whats the point.

I will wait one week to see if it works, otherwise will go back to the shop to get a refund. Frustrated!

Hey there,

I recently updated my phone to Android Pie.  I had the same issue with syncing my fit bit blaze to my phone.  I finally got it to sync and haven't had an issue yet.  What i had to do is stop using the adaptive battery option in Android Pie as this shuts down certain notifications from apps.  I think fitbit can address this issue with an update hopefully soon.  I hope this helps everyone.
