Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Updated my phone Xiaomi Mi A1 to Android Pie and lost the ability to sync my charge 2. I hope this gets fixed, I am very disappointed with Fitbit.

Remove the watch from Android Bluetooth and pair it again. It should solve the case. It did for me.

I am happy of not hearing again about compatible list.

Glad it worked!;)

two days working now since Android app update.  Hope it continues.  Takes two or three syncs before all the data shows up on the app but that has always been the case.

Very disappointed with fitbit and how careless they are towards android system updates.

After 5 months it seems that last update released few days ago fixed it for me ... however we still don't  have any feedback from any moderator in order know whether this is the long awaited permanent fix or it may stop syncing from a moment to another

I am still not able to sync or update firmware. Any advice?

Mine is a 1plus 5t.

As soon as I installed the latest app version I rebooted my charge3 and started syncing ... So far auto sync works as well ...before with the workaround provided here I could manually sync every now and then as it wasn't working every time

Me too. Am researching options to fitbit. It's not like your paying $20 for
it

My Nokia 8 Sirocco also got updates to Android 9.0 Pie and cannot sync anymore.
I have removed my Blaze manually from Bluetooth devices and tried to register it again with Fitbit App.

The tracker is found but then instantly an error showing "Bluetooth problems" is displayed.
Neither rebooting the phone, nor the tracker, is working.

Please help

Please refer to the previous posts by JulioD or under my name about using the nRF app to disconnect, unbound then bound and connect again. The key thing is verifying that device properties appear in the app after bonding. The error is due to a failure in reading the device properties if the BLE device got bounded in Android 8 and indeed in this case the nRF app cannot show any property in the device tab BEFORE unbounding and bounding again.

It worked for me with my Fitbit Charge HR.

Since my Xiaomi A2 Lite updated to Android 9 (Pie) I could not longer sync my Charge 2. I've tried all the troubleshooting (restart bluetooth, reinstall app, unpair). Charge 2 is unpaired and won't re-pair, I get the PIN number come up when adding the device in the app, but after that it just say connecting for about 5 minutes, then reports its not working.

The app needs fixing!

Have you tried it from Android settings or just in the app? I mean deleting
the tracker and adding it again.

I've tried both, (from android settings and within Fitbit app). Neither work.

Thank you @AGallo for the hint.

Unfortunately this is not working for me. I have installed the nRF app.
It is showing my Blaze as Not bonded. When I try to bond it, nothing happens 😕
It shows for less then a second "Bonding..." and then again "Not bonded"

Edit: Btw. Connecting with Windows 10 App works like a charm, it automatically connected my blaze within seconds.

@Kramomat have you tried disconnecting too? then do connect then bond. Try few times.

Yes, I know it works like a charm with Windows 10, with iPhone/iPad and also with Android 8.... the problem *seems* to be in some bad data left in the BT area for the fitbit from Android 8, which Android 9 does not like.

For me the change from 7 to 8 was also difficult. Notifications are still
bad compared to 7.

I wanted to start using Fitbit yesterday, as it was a special occasion.  Fresh out of the box, phone checked out as compatible.  Have wasted a lot of time trying to get this thing synced and working.  IT SHOULDN’T BE THIS DIFFICULT.  What a piece of junk.

Problems syncing after update to 9pie. Removed the device (charge 2) in the app, now unable to re-install it 😔 quite frustrating! It says 'time-out on coupling' (koppeling in dutch), seems to be a problem with the bluetooth-connection... Is there and solution for this?

Exact same situation here 😔

No update since October on this? My phone just upgrade to Android 9 Pie and now I can't pair with my Alta HR. Why was there not a warning about this sent to everyone? Or a big red warning inside the app so I could delay the Android update?
