Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.
Fitbit Update: 8/19/18
We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.
Thanks for your patience!

UPDATE: 3 days later and Charge 2 is still syncing with Xiaomi Note 5. HR data is now syncing properly as well. I hate to say this, but for the moment, it seems to sync better than it has in the past. I've set the Fitbit app to "All Day Sync" and "Always Connected". I don't know if that makes a difference, but the removing the device from the Fitbit app, then restarting the Charge 2 while in the charging cradle and then adding the Charge 2 back into the app seems to have made the difference.
I'm not happy that the app screwed up with the update to Pie, but compared to so many others, I feel lucky. Time to buy that lottery ticket.

Very gsppy its working for you! I turned on these 2 settings, closed the app, removed and replaced the battery which is a known/proven solution for my zip to sync a single time. Opened the app and yes my Zio did sync but as it the past only the 1 time. Tried syncing several times since and no luck. Sadly this is not a solution for me.

Regarding notifications and GPS - Yes to both. All I've checked with notifications is an incoming phone call, and with the GPS, a short walk around the block. Both seemed to work with no problem.
The only thing I can't seem to get working, and this is seemingly not due to Pie upgrade, is my 10 minute warning notification if I haven't made my 250 steps for the hour.

More deflecting and politics and disingenuous help. I am getting sick and tired of being fed with remedial troubleshooting guides and device compatibility listings. It is very clear Fitbit has no intent of trying to solve the andriod 9 sync issues.

You must have missed a post because my zip still doesn't work. I have been syncing through my iPad which sucks because I have to manually do it every night. My family gave up on weekly challenges because no one can sync their fitbits except for my mom and occassionally myself. Telling us to use a device other than our mobile is super inconvenient because we don't always have those devices available.

Yeah ZINZIN i think our fitbit zips have become paper weights. I thought that other supported ftibit products were having sync issues like the zip??

Per your note below, thanks for finally acknowledging that Fitbit has abandoned the Zip. The steps in your article did NOT solve my sync issue with my Fitbit Zip and Pixel 1 on the Android Pie (9) OS.
Yes, my Fitbit Zip will sync with my Windows 10 computer (w/adapter) and my Samsung Tablet, however I do not carry my large tablet or my 40 pound desktop computer and monitor around with me in my pocket during the day. I only carry my Pixel One (1) phone running Android Pie (9) with me during the day, which no longer syncs with my Fitbit Zip since my PIxel updated to Android Pie on August 6, 2018. Using my desktop PC or tablet to sync my Zip is very very inconvenient and is not a long term solution.

Seriously? Are you kidding?
The Zip (and One) do not work at all with devices you say are supported. Full stop. No "did you try this" about it. It does not work.
In order to verify this, the Fitbit team would need two things:
1. Any Google Pixel phone ever.
2. A Zip or One tracker.
That's it. No magic. This 100% will not work. And you could have easily determined that, but instead you've wasted thousands of people's time leading them down "diagnostic" paths that you SHOULD know full well don't work.
I really liked my Fitbit tracker.. But this is really, really not acceptable behavior.

Thank you for your response, but it doesn't help. I uninstalled the app yesterday but it took me over an hour to get it to find my watch, in the end I uninstalled about 3 times. It works for couple then stops syncing again. What are we supposed to do? I'm certainly not carring around a computer.
