Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Hey Everyone!
Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).
For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here.
We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.
I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.
Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.
Fitbit Update: 8/19/18
We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.
Thanks for your patience!

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums.
Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.
In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

After stopping syncing in June & constant attempts to reboot tracker (Charge 3); switching on & off phone & reinstalling Fitbit app, my tracker gave up the ghost last week. As still under warranty a new one was shipped - new tracker arrived today... managed to sync at 1st attempt & 2 hours in is continuing to sync automatically. Long may it last! Wondering if the constant attempts to reboot initial tracker actually damaged it in some way. I'll keep you posted if it stops syncing again

@ZINZIN wrote:I lost synch ability in April when I was forced to update. My Zip has not synched once since then. I spent the better part of April and May on the phone with Samsung and Fitbit to no avail. I even drove up to a youbreakifix place to try and unupdate. (is that a word?) I am so frustrated. I am tired of someone from the company stopping in every month or so and tell us to do the same thing. (definition of insanity) If it worked, do you think this page would have new issues DAILY?
I have requested a contact person so that I could run things by and Fitbit refuses to give out any information and just continue to have a forum admin stop by. UGH
Here's a customer service phone number for Fitbit (877) 623-4997 That's a U.S. number I believe though since they're based in the U.S. That's the number I used when I had issues and customer service was actually very good..... but that was years ago before they brought out the Ionic/Versa/Ace/Charge 3 or any of the other new devices. I've heard customer service has gone down hill since then 😞

I can't believe Fitbit hasn't made more progress on getting their app and trackers to work on Android 9 considering it's getting close to a year since 9 was released, and 10 is coming out officially to many phones in a few months 😮 In fact I'm running Q beta on my pixel now 😮 😮
I still sync my surge on my back up phone running Android 7 because with app version 2.63 it syncs perfectly.... but what's Fitbit going to do when they get 2 operating systems behind with apps and trackers that don't work? My guess is lose a huge amount of market share and go out of business 😮 😮 😮 I won't put a Fitbit app on my phone running Android 9 (now 10) because I don't trust their app to not use huge amounts of data and cost me a ton of money in overages, or drain my phone battery dead in half a day with no phone usage, both things that happened a while back. And did Fitbit do anything to help the people with 100's of dollars of overage fee's..... nope, just said sorry, we're working on fixing that. Sounds familiar doesn't it?

I have the Moto Z3 phone and on Android Pie. But still not working. I have a Fitbit Zip and I try to link to Bluetooth but pop-up says, "Pairing rejected by zip". The Fitbit desktop app works fine but not the phone. Not sure yet why

@hiran1228 if your trying to pair the Zip to your phone through the phones Bluetooth, you should not be able to with a message of " Rejected by Zip"
The Zip does not need to be paired to the phones Bluetooth to sync. Yes it needs to be paired for notifications to work but the Zip does not have this option.

I still can't get notifications on my Fitbit and now I can't even update my tracker. This problem has been ongoing for months. I will never purchase a Fitbit again.

Since changing phones to one with Android 9 I also can't get notifications on my Fitbit from calls/texts. To add insult to injury turning my alarm off on my fitibit no longer has any effect - so was woken up every morning at 7am while on holiday. And now I can't even update my tracker...
Unimpressed

Sorry @paintinghobbes with no mention of which phone, or which Fitbit tracker I'm not sure if we can help.
Have you done a search with the phone model?
As for alarms, some trackers need to be disabled through the app while others may be done through the tracker. With every tracker the alarm may also be deleted.

Why? because Fitbit doesn't give a crap about their customers. They were aware over a year ago about synching issues and didn't do anything. They continued to lie to their customers about the Zip when they knew it was being discontinued as well as the synching issues. I will never ever buy a fitbit product again. I will make sure everyone knows they do not stand behind their products.

? has any done the firmware upgrade on their Charge 2 (to 22.58.0) ?
I'm not game to try since the tracker firmware upgrade seems to cause issues (esp battery drain) for quite a few people (see this thread here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-2/Charge-2-Firmware-Release-22-58-0/m-p/3637912#M207791)

I can confirm that charge 2 firmware update seems to have fixed the syncing and Bluetooth issues with my Samsung A8 and Android pie. It's been one full day now and it still works. No comment on battery but it doesn't seem worse to me.

How about notifications are those working with A8? Mine have not worked since android 9. I cannot pair it fully with my phone. App works but no notifications.
I got an update yesterday and nothing is working better. No notifications, fitbit app syncin to charge 2 is causing somekind of problems also with other bluetooth devices.
