Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 2/14/19

Hi everyone!

Thanks for all your reports and patience with these Android 9.0 syncing difficulties. We’re aware of this ongoing issue and have been working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible.

We're sorry for any trouble. We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you back on track as soon as possible.

I'll let you know if I receive any additional information on this matter.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

How do I set my fitbit to read my texts and see who is calling on my samsung galaxy 9s? It's not picking up... very disappointed

Let's go to fitbits searchable and interactive help site for your answer.

I'm not sure how much is covered in your user manual which is available on the help site.

How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?

Did you write a review in the Google play store for the Fitbit app yet? I think we need to let all the Android users know what's going on!

Hello @elwright360 are you reffering to the Fitbit app, the website, or the Fitbit tracker? And what is it that doesn't work?

For those of you who have not been able to sync for several days, there is always the application for Windows that will allow you to at least not lose your data 😉 Luckily, I am able to do that. I was so pleased with Fitbit for the last 2 years until this syncing problem.

That's a good suggestion, thanks. It will help with retaining data, but the issue of receiving no notifications (which is basically why I own a Versa as opposed to a Charge) is still unsolved.

It seems there are sone 5 star entries that are not made by real customers for every other bad review they are getting.

I just rated and reviewed the app in the Play store as well. It was a little therapeutic really - I also recommend others do the same. It's about the only voice we have at this point, and I'd like to do what I can to save someone else the trouble of potentially spending hundreds of dollars just to find out the device won't work. 10 weeks and no response from Fitbit other than the occasional "thank you for your patience, we're working on it" just isn't believable anymore.

Renee, thank you so much for this information! It's critical for the community to know that even the new Fitbits are not working with 9Pie!

The syncing issues have still not been resolved with the update you released to the Android app store on 10/17/18, aka Firmware v. 7.88.

I am still unable to sync from a Google Pixel.

Your help desk is also not in tune / aware of this ticket - which is odd since it is reported by many people and has been open since August.  You may want to also try some training there as they argue with the user about how to fix the phone then point to this issue when nothing works vs. helping with syncing on other devices.

I found another post where a possible solution to restart the sync is to disable the wifi on the phone.

The thread is in Italian and is related to Oneplus6 and Charge3:

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-3/Oneplus-6-e-sincronizzazione-una-possibile-soluzione/td-p/3...

The user does not specify if the phone has the Android-Pie.

Maybe it works also for your phone..

Thanks to @Molberg for the OnePlus 6 advice.

I can confirm that this worked for me (even notifications work!), although may of course not work for everyone / might be a coincidence / might break at any time / might still buy a Garmin to preserve my sanity etc 🙂.

Thanks again

Ben

Hey everyone.

No updates to report at the time. I'll continue to keep my eyes open for any news to share with everyone.

If you have not done so, be sure to try to follow the steps listed in our help site, click here to see them. As a workaround, you can try to use a different device to sync. You could use another phone or a computer so that you can get the data to your account. I understand that this is not a solution or ideal but it is a possibility to get your data over.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for hanging in there with us, @LanuzaFitbit; I imagine this must seem a pretty thankless job at the moment...
