Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.
Fitbit Update: 8/19/18
We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.
Thanks for your patience!

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums.
Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.
In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

The only solution I've found on my Zip is to remove the battery once a day. It will sync ONE time after that and not again until the battery is removed and reinserted again. It's not ideal at all, but it does work.

It's a little frustrating to see moderators reply to the lonely "hey it works for me" post and not the vast "it doesn't work for us" majority. And, to add more insult, to refer again to the useless "Why won't my fitbit sync" article which we know does not work.
This is some serious (and disappointing) burying your heads in the sand. 😞

It worked for my Nokia 8 and my ChargeHR. Now it does not work for my wife's XiaoMi Mi A1 and an Alta HR. It fails to bond.

You have been saying the same thing for 6 months or so. My Pixel 1 and Zip haven't been able to sync since the upgrade to Pie. I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps including a factory reset of the Pixel. The best I have ever seen is a single sync.

What is everyone using to sync in the meantime? I dug out my old Fitbit Wireless Dongle to sync on my older PC. My newer PC's sync fine via Bluetooth using the Windows Desktop Fitbit app.

I've been using a previous version of the app (I think it's 2.74?) that's been working with my Pixel 2 & Zip. I just set the app to make sure it doesn't update to the newer version.

New watch is crap. Lol. And my fit bit is still crap. Watch is just to different and I have not time to acclimate to it. As for fitbit, it's been almost 2 month and they done nothing to fix our issues. This morning the watch and app are no longer friends Again!!!!. No communications at all. Again!!

I went to the park for a healthy walking session just to realize connected GPS doesn't work anymore. The device still syncs though.

Yes, I reinstalled the app and tried to re-link the Fitbit one. It cannot find the device during the pairing process.

I know you can't do anything about the issue yourself, but can you ask for timelines on when this will be fixed, it's been more than 4 months already that Fitbit is not working with Android Pie. I am thinking to throw it in trash now and replace it with something that works.
Please get us some timelines for the fix. it's always like we're working on it. I am an android developer myself and in 4 months which is a very long time for a bug fix either we must know if we can fix it or we can say that it won't be fixed. why keep people hanging?

Hi
I know Asus Zenfone 5z is not a compatible device in Fitbit compatible list actually there is not even Asus name in the dropdown list of compatible device.
I know the basic criteria for Fitbit application to start working and considering Asus Zenfone 5z is flagship device it's not an issue. when the Asus Zenfone 5z was on 8.0 everything was working perfectly, after updating the device to 9.0 (before Asus Zenfone 5z I was using Sony Xperia XA Dual which was also not compatible but application worked fine as it meets basic criteria)
1. I have lost live data feature to note that live data is enabled from Fitbit dashboard
2. I have lost notifications feature to note that I have used the "send test notification" feature in Fitbit application to test it out. it doesn't work.
3. I have lost the Connected GPS feature, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't work.
4. Bluetooth connection breaks with 10-15 sec after sync.
I have done the basic troubleshooting
1. unpaired Fitbit Charge 2 removed Fitbit application from Asus Zenfone 5z then installed the application.
2. completed the setup
3. restarted Fitbit Charge 2
the problem still exists and it has got worst after the latest Fitbit Application update 2.87.
1. I'm not able to sync smoothly either sync works or it works after 3-5 attempts or I have clear cash memory or I have to restart the phone
2. it's stuck on linking account it wasn't a problem before to note that all day sync and always connected is enabled.
I have talked with customer support regarding the problem they told me to get live data you need to turn on notification which was already on after that they wanted to replace Charge 2 I knew it wasn't going to happen as my charge 2 is out of warranty(2-year-old Fitbit Charge 2) after giving them purchase bill they told me we can't replace it which I knew it's warranty policy
but I think the problem I'm facing is regarding Android application software side rather than Hardware.
is there anything I can do to solve this Bluetooth sync problem

It is now over 6 months that Fitbit has been thanking users for their patience regarding the issue with syncing and Android 9. One does have to question the commitment to resolving this problem after this much time. Around 80% of mobile phones use a version of Android and while the number using 9 is relatively small it is growing. Eventually this is going to start costing Fitbit market share. I have tried all of the suggested solutions and only the battery removal worked and then just once. In the big scheme of my life this is a relatively minor annoyance but there are others with a real commitment to fitness or with serious health concerns for whom this is a real problem. I am not suggesting that this should be an easy fix as problems like this can be quite complex. "Fitbit no longer works with most phones" , misleading though it may be, is the kind of news item that does tend focus attention.
