Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Hey Everyone!
Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).
For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here.
We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.
I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.
Fitbit Update: 8/19/18
We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.
Thanks for your patience!
Fitbit Update: 8/11/18
Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums.
Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.
In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Connecting Charge 2 with Nokia 7 plus, no problem.
Android 9, security patch october 2018, Fitbit app version 2.90.
Connected GPS is also running.
Nokia is new, and a bit of a gamble, with all the issues posted here. Without the latest security patch, still working.

Finally it is working! My phone just updated to the March 2019 security patch and I just saw my Fitbit Zip is syncing after I got a goal notification.

I have an Mi A1 with a Charge 2 and ever since the upgrade to android 9 (around 24 December) the "Always connected" features have stopped working, including push notifications.
Connected GPS frequently reports as disconnected during an exercise and I have to re-open the fitbit app in the middle of exercise to get it to connect again.
Manual sync itself works okay - occasionally i have to turn bluetooth off/on to get it to work.
Have tried removing the device from my account, full reset of fitbit, reinstall app, clear bluetooth (as per @Kamleman former post), but after re-pairing with the 4-digit code, the phone cannot get past the "incorrect pin or passkey" error when setting up connectivity features.
I also wonder if the app is getting confused when trying to Bond with the fitbit because I now have a child account with an Ace on it - my son set this up about the same time as the Android upgrade. I might try to remove it to see if it makes a difference.
Any advice would be welcome

I have a Pixel and a Zip. As everyone else has posted, since my Pixel updated to Android 9 (Pie) back in August, it has not regularly synced with my Zip. Every now and then, they can actually find each other and sync, but it is not consistent.
However, unlike the fancier Fitbit items that show messages, etc., and need to be able to sync with the phone to fully work, the Zip doesn't need any of that. It's just a pedometer. While it would be nice if it synced with my phone (especially when I travel to another time zone and would like it to be on local time), it syncs with my desktop computer via the Dongle and it syncs with my laptop via the Windows 10 app. (I have noticed that if Bluetooth is available on my phone, it doesn't always sync with my desktop or laptop.) And, because the phone displays the Fitbit app, it does show the up-to-date information that is available on my Fitbit dashboard (NOTE -- this does not mean your Zip is syncing with your phone!) The app on the phone even allows me to enter activities, like my Yoga classes. So, I am hoping to eventually have my Zip and phone sync on a regular basis, but for now, it is not the end of the world.

@jerseystar , Its the end of the world if you count on seeing your active minutes while exercising

As my Zip doesn't record anything but the steps I take, which I can see when I look at it, there's nothing else to see. As I said, I can go into the app on my phone and record any exercise/activity and that will appear on my Fitbit dashboard.

@jerseystar it does also record "active minutes" when you move fast for a while. My wife counts on those. You can't see them in the Zip, but can on your phone. Well, back when it would sync with your phone you could... So now she has to wait until she gets home to see if she made her target.

Hello everyone.
We truly appreciate all comments and suggestions that have been shared through the thread.
At this time we do not have any updates to share on the matter but we'll continue to work towards a solution. Please know that we'll be posting about it as soon as we have anything to share.
In case someone else has not tried yet, you can click here to see steps that worked for some users. There is also this post that seems to have worked for others. As it has been mentioned before in the thread, those steps might work for some but they are not a permanent and consistent solution for a lot of others. Be sure to give them a try if you have the time.
Feel free to reach out if there are any other questions.

Why don't you finally tell all these people including me why your product which is heavily marketed has such poor support, every friend of mine which has a Garmin or a frickin Huawei band doesn't have problems with syncing the one of the key features of every fitness band, futhermore why the heck did Fitbit buy off and kill Pebble so now we can have overpriced product with no support for MONTHS and even tough the whole community is trying to help you guys which probably have 2 developers don't bother...
P.s don't bother trying to delete this comment because I'm taking it to Googgle Play store's page just to let people know that the customer is in last place for you people -
P.s2 Love that the dimming sensor of the device is pointed on the back that way it will always be on full brightness, a bit tough in the battery tough...
Deeply disappointed and will not recommend to other people I want a REFUND!!

Thanks for reaching out to the Fitbit community.
As a Blaze user I can now sync and get notifications on my Nokia 8.
I suggest this is only because google have fix something at the server end.
Fitbit seem completely unaware that sync now works for some devices.

How on earth has this not been fixed yet? Pie came out on the 7th of March LAST YEAR...
Your app is essentially broken in Android Pie, which most android phones under 24 months old will be running by now.
It means actually tracking anything isn't possible.
Hacky work-arounds are not acceptable.

I'll believe it when I can go at least two weeks without "Bluetooth issues". Things have always worked OK for me for a short time after a reboot.

Pixel and Fitbit Zip -- for the first time in forever, it synced. Will see if it lasts.

My Fitbit Charge 2 and my Nokia 6.1 with Android 9 (Pie) have been mostly synching for about 2 months now. It seems to have gotten near perfect in the last couple of weeks. I manually pull down to sync in the app every morning to see how I slept. It used to take 2 or 3 pull downs before all the data showed up including live heartbeats. Now whenever I open the app it automatically does 2 syncs in a row and all data shows including live heartbeats. I no longer need to initiate a sync. It used to say it couldn't find my device about every other day which would require me to restart my phone and then it would find the device. It has been a week since it last said it could not find my device.

This issue still remains for me. Zip and Samsung Galaxy S9+. The only saving grace is that if I pop the battery out every few days it will sync once. It's a BS workaround but my data isn't completely lost. I'm now worried that the back panel of my Zip is starting to crack though from all of the opening and closing. This really needs to be solved.

My Nokia 7.1 & charge 2 have also been syncing for a couple months. I didn't change anything, so perhaps there was an update to either the app or some bluetooth update.
However, based on all the comments here with general problems, when I upgrade there's no way I could consider fitbit and go through all this again unless I happen to get lucky. I was set to purchase a Versa but it's not a consideration now.
