Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.
Fitbit Update: 8/19/18
We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

I also updated my Oneplus 6 to Pie today and Fitbit app won't sync anymore. Tried restarting bluetooth, device, phone. Still doesn't sync. Expecting a fix soon.

On my OnePlus 6 today I tried to reset all of my network settings in Android hoping that it would fix the issues and it did not.

I also have the oneplus 6, I guess I'm not updating to pie if I want to continue to use the versa. Last time the sync broke on the watch I had to return it as it never synced up again.

Fitbit is smart enough keeping the compatibility list as short as possible. Oneplus 6 is not on it, so for us using that phone it's back to desktop syncing. They will probably never fix this.

I havent had any problems until now with my Oneplus 6.
When you check the device list they only have Oneplus ONE in the list. None of the devices released after that. I really hope they will fix this.

As mentioned before in this thread, workaround for OP6 which works with Pie:

I think you just need to pair with another device.
I removed my alta hr from bluetooth on my phone, then added it to my laptop with the fitbitt for windows app. After that i paired it again with my phone and voila it works again.
using fitbit 2.79. So 2.74.2 is not required.

I'm with you. This has been the most frustrating experience I've had with a wearable, and I've had WearOS. When this dies, I'll either be pulling the Pebble smartwatch back out or going back to WearOS.

The install Fitbit version 2.74.2 fix worked for me for just a few syncs and then quit working on my Pixel 1 with Pie. My phone initially quit syncing after Pie (9.0) was installed. I was part of the Android Pie Beta program and had three prior Pie beta versions installed on my phone and all Beta versions worked with Fitbit. It was the final release version of Pie that's caused issues.
I don't know about others, but I'm very irritated by Andriod's lack of responsiveness. At least I have another Android device (Samsung Tab S2) in my house that will sync flawlessly with Fitbit.
Given the longevity of this issue, it seems to me that Fitbit is no longer supporting Android users. Who knows, maybe Fitbit is taking money under the table from Apple (iOS) and is pushing Android users to dump their Android devices and switch to Apple (iOS). Just speculation at this point though.

Yes. This worked for me too. Thank you Lapti.
1. Uninstalled Fitbit app on Oneplus6.
2. Removed Ionic from paired devices list.
3. Downloaded and installed Fitbit app for Windows.
4. Connected to my computer over Bluetooth and synced Ionic.
5. Reinstalled latest Fitbit app on my phone and synced it. Started working again. Did sync several times till now.

So, this will work even if you don't reinstall the app on the phone.
Since the windows app will sync with the device and update the online account, the phone app will actually just sync with the online account and not the device itself.

No it actually syncs against n with the device after a desktop sync.

My Vivoactive 3 came in the mail today. So far I'm in love. It synced immediately, and hasn't disconnected. I'm getting my notifications instantly, I'm seamlessly controlling my music from the watch... It's wonderful to have something that works as it should. The app is much more complex and is going to have a learning curve, but I'm fine with that. 🙂 Highly recommended, ditch this headache that is Fitbit.
