Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Maybe this can help? Updated my OP6 to Pie and my Charge 2 stopped syncing. I delete the Charge 2 in the Fitbit app and in my OP6 BT settings. Kept the Fitbit app, and logged into my Fitbit account, on my OP6. Then installed and logged on the Fitbit app on my work phone (iPhone 6). Paired the Charge 2 with the iPhone and synced. After successful syncing with the iPhone, I then turned BT off in the iPhone settings. Opened the Fitbit app on my OP6 and somehow it's now connected and syncing with my Charge 2. Deleted everything on the iPhone. Now my Charge 2 works without any issues on my OP6 Pie Edition 😁

@SunsetRunner How about the GPS connectivity while you do running? Syncing is working fine with me on my OP6.

GPS connection with the Charge 2 has always sucked, no matter which phone I've tried it on, it's accuracy is way off🤯 So I don't use it.

I just read someone fixed his issues by turning off battery optimization for the fitbit app.   Could somebody test this out?  I have seen other apps have issues with it turned on.

I received update 2.80 this morning. Running the current version of Android Pie on Essential phone ph-1 with a fitbit flex. the latest update did nothing to fix the faulty syncing issue. After waiting for 2 months, I have given up and I am going to put the flex in storage -- if this gets fixed please post here. I am going to give google fit app a spin in the meantime. I was on the fence about what to do when the flex died, but I am not going to get a fitbit at this point since it wouldn't work anyway.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. No change - Google Pixel 2 still won't sync with my One. All other devices are able to sync thru bluetooth - car, headphones, speaker, computer. Fitbit only device not connecting.

My One seems to be working. I'm not confident that it will continue to work.

Still not working after installing and reinstalling the app, removing the device, adding the device and resetting the device. It only syncs immediately, but then the app cannot find the tracker after two minutes! I have a pixel with an original flex. When is this going to be fixed?!

App update does not work.  I updated the Fitbit app to the latest version, 2.8, deleted my Fitbit Zip from my account.  Re-added and reconnected the Fitbit Zip and it did sync one time.  Afterwards, no more syncing.  App still needs a fix.

Android 9, October update

Pixel 2XL

Fitbit one 6.64

App 2.80

Human. Technically competent but disappointed.

No syncing via the phone.

Will sync from windows 10 app

Previously it would sync on phone just after syncing on PC, but not now.

I have restarted phone. I have reinstalled app with prior version but not yet with 2.8.

I've not tried deleting the device from the account as it seems unlikely to work, given no positive reports here.

If anything these updates are removing workarounds.

Here the sync is still working with OP6 and after i removed the device from the OP6 and synced with desktop app (W10), and then re-added on the OP6.

Still able to sync now after a few days.

So i think you just need to sync the fitbit device with another device.

Same type of activity and I am back in business on my OnePlus 6.

Ok here's my story, which now ends with a FitBit Charge 2 syncing properly.  In the time that I could not sync with my OnePlus 6, I synched with Windows 10/FitBit app.  Today, after following these steps, I am syncing reliably.

1. Delete Fitbit app

2. Delete existing Bluetooth connection from the phone

3. Ensure the latest Fitbit app was reinstalled

4. Following all steps to log in and allow Bluetooth connectivity

Since that time all has worked.
