Android Fitbit App (no device), not logging steps

(Fitbit Charge 3 in en route)

 

The app recorded my step count yesterday using just my phone as I walked around with it. This worked fine - my phone already has a step counter. 

 

Today however, my phone has recorded over 800 steps, while the fitbit app says zero. 

 

I have checked the power settings on my phone - fitbit is set to manual. Phone is not set to power save or ultra power save. I have tried walking around with the app open and the phone screen on watching the step cound not move from zero in the fitbit app. Phone's internal app is still logging the steps.

 

Does anyone have any ideas why the fitbit app isn't working, or what else I could check?

My Charge 3 is not showing steps, heart rate, or sleep or women's health or stairs.  Trouble started when I could not get it to sync.  Still will not sync.
