Android Fitbit app 3.60 is NOT yet available.

Turns out that 3.60 is NOT available, or at least not for various androids.

And there is no menu item at top left of Play Store. Might be on iOS or older Android?

Hello @DannyFB

😉 Currently what I’m showing is 3.59.1 for Android version and 3.62 for iOS version.

Hi @DannyFB   when an app is updated, it is available on a rolling basis. Not everyone will receive it at the same time, so you might not be able to get it right away. Here is the announcement for when it was released earlier this month - click to read. If you do not have the minimum of Android 10, then you won't get the newer version. I have Android 9 on my phone and have version 3.59.1, so I'm not sure the latest will be available for me. This happened to me with my older Android phone and tablet. They were too old to receive the newest app, so I wasn't able to use them.

I have Android 8 and it updated my app to 3.60 last week. It works as well as the previous few versions did

The play store on my phone says the minimum is Android 8 for Fitbit app 3.60, despite what Fitbit say on their release update.

If Fitbit choose to stop installs on Android 8, it will be the final straw and I will be moving to Garmin.

As well, when I select the link provided for review of the release notes
for (supposedly) 3.60 those Release Notes indicate 3.58 to be the latest
release.

The instruction to go to Play Store and select from a drop down at upper
left is also bogus. Or, perhaps only for specific releases and/or devices.

For anyone on forum to fall back on the old "it's a dumb question to ask
unless you also include phone model, phone OS version" - take a look in the
mirror as you post a very generic instruction for something which
apparently is NOT generic.

So I spent a good (bad) 30 minutes or more trying to figure out if there
was or was not a 3.60 available. Finally gave up. Best anyway, since each
fitbit update seems to introduce more problems than it resolves.

Hello again @DannyFB

I’m a bit confused. You said something about a drop down at upper left is bogus at the Play Store. I’m not sure exactly what that is. I don’t have anything like that. 🤷‍:female_sign:

I am/was also confused but finally just moved on with life. The instructions offered for updating to the 3.60 stated to use the icon in Play Store, upper left. That was not to be found. Hence my pointing it out (pointing out that whatever the author was referring to did not exist). My Android (OS Version 12) did not indicate there was any update available for Fitbit. Sometimes (?) if there is an update available for an app you can go to Play Store and simply "install". Sometimes not.

I "chatted" with Fitbit tech support. The first person informed me that it was a mistake and 3.60 was not yet available but would be soon. The second person informed me that it might not be available for all devices, just some. Both were unsure if it was for iOS or Android.

The Release Notes for what was supposedly 3.60 in fact had not been updated beyond 3.58 which I knew was wrong because I have 3.59 currently. If the Release Notes actually had anything in them about 3.60 AND indicated something more than "we fixed some stuff" (useless information) then perhaps I would have some incentive to spend more of my time on it.

Bottom line is apparently just ignore it all and maybe one day your Android device will automatically tell you there is an update available. Or maybe not.

I have Android 11 and the version of the Fitbit app on the Google Play store right now is 3.59.1.

Version 3.60 was announced on 6/16/22 so it might take a while until more users get it.

I'm on Android 10 and still can't update past 3.59.1

And still no answer to why the Release Notes for, supposedly, 3.60 stop at
3.58.

The release notes were on the post here - click to read. The main article is probably waiting for whoever has permission to edit it. When it comes to forums, moderators can edit posts, but an article is more than likely something beyond their ability.

Incorrect The announcement itself, to which you have provided the link,
points the user to the comprehensive release notes via another link. I have
cut&pasted the top section of those Release Notes. As one can see, they end
with "VERSION 3.58". April 19, 2022.
***************************************

This section lists the major versions of the Fitbit app for Android that
were released to customers during the last several months. We recommend
always keeping your app up to date.

Note: Customers in China can download the Fitbit app on Android phones from
the Huawei and Xiaomi app stores. If you use the Fitbit app for China, you
won’t receive Fitbit app updates.

@Odyssey13 the release says "I would like to announce that a new version of the Fitbit app is available on the store for all users." so it's not released on a "rolling basis". This is how Fitbit releases device updates but there is no way to release the app into the Play store only to selected users. You can specify the countries or devices but there is no "rolling release". It doesn't work that way.

As shown in the response below, apparently I was wrong. I didn't know Google added staged rollout (at the time, my company was releasing apps there was no such feature).

I have 3.60 Beta on my phone (updated June 1). Can't see the 3.60 release yet in the store.

Best Answer

They might be performing a staged rollout, which would explain the inconsistent availability. Quoting from the play store help: "With a staged roll-out, your update reaches only a percentage of your users, which you can increase over time."

To complicate things, as of this morning I now have version 3.62. As far as I know I am not on a Beta programme.

Hey there were supposed to a bunch of fixes with the new patch. It was announced in the forum but hey if you look at the google play store it is still 3.59.1 and not 3.60. What is up with that? I really like the app but it has been so inconsistent with certain tasks it is getting frustrating.

Hi @Sryii  when a new release of the app is announced, some people need to wait as it's not done all at once. They call it a rolling release, so it just needs to roll some more to get to us. If you're patient, it should get to you.

That makes no sense @Odyssey13. They announced the release. There is only one version available on the app store, 3.59.1. They stated that 3.60 was released on the google play app store. So explain how it could be a rolling release when they announce it as live?

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It says it is available for all androids version 10+ but All of my android devices are over 10 but they all still say 3.59.1. My whole post was BASED off of their announcement. Your explanation still doesn't make sense.

EDIT: Also wtf happened to my post it is now merged with this one?
