Hi,

I have the FitBit Charge. Everything has been working great, but the app won't sync to my FitBit which sucks cause I like to see a lot of info that isn't on the charge. Well my Charge won't sync to the app or the app won't sync to my Charge. I deleted the app and reinstalled it, I turned off my phone. It won't work. What am I doing wrong. A lot of help would be wonderful. Thanks!

Mine hasn't synced since April 1st (Samsung Galaxy S5), but I am still able to sync on my samsung tablet. I really hope they fix this soon. I keep getting a "bluetooth error" message.

It's nice to see you around @Szaleski! First of all, I'd like you to meet all the tips and requirements in order to get notifications on your Fitbit:

  • Make sure your tracker is within 20 feet of your mobile device. If your tracker and mobile device are too far away from one another, you won't receive notifications or they may be delayed.
  • Your tracker won't receive notifications if it is syncing to your mobile device when a call, text, or calendar event notification is received. If you miss or receive delayed notifications occasionally, it may be because the tracker was syncing at the same time the notification was received.
  • Determine whether other Bluetooth devices connected to your mobile device are causing interference and preventing notifications from appearing on your tracker. For more information, see The Fitbit app for Android is interfering with my other Bluetooth devices.
  • If you're receiving notifications but they seem delayed, the Bluetooth connection between your tracker and your mobile device may be unstable. You can turn on a persistent notification widget to help improve the delivery of notifications to your tracker. For more information, see the Troubleshooting section below.
  • Turn on the Always Connected option in your tracker settings (tap the tracker tile twice) to improve the Bluetooth connection between your phone and tracker. Note that turning on this feature may cause the battery on your tracker to drain more quickly than normal.
  • Make sure you're running OS 4.3 or later.
  • Note that if your tracker can receive text or calendar event notifications, your tracker will only show texts or calendar event notifications sent through the text messaging and calendar apps you chose during setup. You can receive text messages and calendar event notifications from one text messaging app and one calendar app. For example, if you choose to receive SMS text messages from the Messenger app, you won't receive text messages sent through the Google Hangout app.
  • If you recently updated the Fitbit app, reboot your mobile device and try setting up notifications again.

If notifications are not working properly:

  1. Restart your tracker. For more information, see How do I restart my tracker?
  2. Turn off notifications. Complete these steps:
    1. On the Fitbit app dashboard, tap your tracker, and then on the device screen, tap your tracker.
    2. Tap Allow notifications access and turn off access to the Fitbit Notification Service.
  3. Reboot your mobile device.
  4. In the Fitbit app, tap Allow notifications access and allow access to the Fitbit Notification Service, and then turn on call, text, or calendar notifications.

If you're still not receiving notifications, set up notifications again:

  1. Unpair your tracker from your mobile device. You can unpair your tracker in your mobile device's Bluetooth settings. If you are unsure how to verify or change settings for your mobile device, refer to instructions provided by your device manufacturer. For most Android mobile devices, tap Settings > Bluetooth, find your tracker in the list of paired devices, and then tap Forget or Forget Device to unpair your tracker.
  2. Reboot your mobile device.
  3. In the Fitbit app, tap Allow notifications access and allow access to the Fitbit Notification Service, and then turn on call, text, or calendar notifications.
  4. If notifications still don't work, contact Customer Support.

If notifications are delayed, you can turn on a persistent notification widget to help improve the delivery of notifications to your tracker:

  1. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  2. Tap your tracker tile a second time and tap Notifications.
  3. Turn on Enable Notification Widget

Hope that helps!

Hello my friend @Sandramc32! What do you mean about "is there a charge 2 message ur friends on Fitbit charge 2"? Would you mind to clarify your inquiry a bit more? Do you wanna get messeges from your friends? I mean, the text messages and calls?

If so, do the following to get your notifications:

Find and tap the Settings option for a menu of device settings.
User-added image
Verify or adjust these settings:

  • Bluetooth. Bluetooth is what allows your mobile device to communicate with the tracker so make sure it is on.
  • Do Not Disturb. This feature prevents your mobile device from pushing notifications so make sure it is off.
  • Notifications. Your mobile device must get notifications before they can be sent to your tracker. Check these settings:
    • For Phone, Calendar, and Messages, make sure Allow Notifications is on.
    • For Messages, also make sure Show in Notification Center is on, Show on Lock Screen is on, and you've chosen Banners or Alerts as an alert style.
    • If you have a Blaze and want to get notifications from other apps, apply all the same settings you enabled for Messages to any app in the Notifications list. For example you can get Facebook notifications on your tracker but only if your mobile device knows it is allowed to display them.

Now you'll tell Fitbit which notifications you want. Make sure your charged tracker is nearby.

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap the small image of your tracker in the top left corner.
  2. Tap your tracker's name and then Notifications. If you're prompted to pair with your tracker, follow the instructions.
  3. Turn each notification category on or off depending on your preferences. If you want to see calendar notifications, make sure any third-party calendar apps are synced with your default iOS calendar app. Only the default app sends notifications.

Finally, turn on the tracker's notification setting on the clock screen by pressing and holding the button.

Let me know if this helps you!

Not at all my friend @Sandramc32. I mean with the Charge 2 you're able to get the same messages, call, or calendar notifications you get through your phone. Smiley Very Happy

I have tried so many options to get notifications working again on my Charge 2.  Followed guidance on force stopping app; turn off Bluetooth; restart Fitbit 3 times etc. Still no luck.

I keep getting a red line message in the notifications to say - notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker.

So I have restarted my phone a couple of times.  Turned everything off for a minute and restarted. Still the same messages.  To complicate matters more - when I use the 'send a test call notification' - after a short delay I get a test call notification come thru on the Fitbit - even though notification service is not meant to be running. But cant get it to notify me for text messages - which is the main thing I am after.
