Android app incorrectly recording walks as runs

Whenever I try to record a walk in the android app, it will instead start to record a run. How do I fix this?

The past couple of days I set off to do the school run and start my fitbit tracking as a walk. But for some reason it changes it to a run! I don't run.... I walk! I have stopped it and restarted. Closed the app and restarted and even restarted my phone. Any ideas?!

I use the GPS tracking in the fitbit app to measure my lunchtime walks. Every day this week even though I've selected walk it has recorded it as a run. Is there a way to change them after the fact? And can you advise on getting it to stop doing it?

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and my Fitbit is an Alta HR.

Unfortunately dosen't look like fitbit allows us to edit GPS tracked exercises after the fact - though I can on my synced Strava account

Despite me choosing the walk option when tracking exercise my charge 2 always seems to default to run which is quite annoying. I've restarted my fit bit but doesn't seem to have worked.

I'm having the exact same problem! I walk and mine keeps setting to run. It's only occurred over the past few days.

When I select walk or hike to record that activity, the app defaults to run. This has been happening for the last couple days. Is there a glitch in the app? I have an Alta.

My phone app is registering as a run the last couple of days instead of a walk, even thoith I make sure walk is selected. Any ideas anyone? Thank you

Please can anyone tell me why my charge 3 is logging my walks as runs when connected to GPS on android phone cos I certainly am not running!

@KaetiM Welcome! It's great to see you around! Sorry to hear that your walk is logged as a run activity. Where are you selecting this activity (app or tracker itself)? If it is the app please let me know the phone and OS version you are using. Try logging out from the app, restart your phone and log back in. If it is the tracker then please restart it.

Having a simular problem. I register my walks with the Android app. When i start a training, i choose "Walk", when i stop the training it is registerd als "Run".

I'm sorry to hear that your activity is saved as a run instead of a walk or a hike. I'd like to help you out.

I can recommend logging out of the Fitbit app and then log back in. Also, be sure to updated it to the latest version available and hopefully this will prevent anything similar from happening again.

There is currently 4 different ways to log an activity, without knowing which steps where taken to setup the tracker oroapp to record the walk, I will not be able to call mment.

I have also started experiencing this issue.  Chose "walk", it recorded as a "run".  Icons for the activities have also changed and all now show the running one (whereas walking and hiking had different icons).

These are the steps taken using the Android app... You can see Walk is selected when commencing tracking. When the tracking is compete, it displays run.

I am also having this problem. It started a few days ago. I logged out of the app and back in but I still have the issue. I have the latest app. Charge 2 on Moto Z2 Play. Android 8.0
