Whenever I try to record a walk in the android app, it will instead start to record a run. How do I fix this?

@Sugar-Bun i would first remove run then you'll be able to add walk.

Did this work for you? Seems like lot of people have same issue. Great if all it needs is a "reboot".

@rosebud2018. I haven't tried revising my "runs". I'm just continuing tracking my walks, which are recordings "runs". I do fix it in Strava because you can easily edit in that. I just didn't want to lose my active minutes, even though it's recorded as a "run".

Thank you! The article that was linked to my email did say it could be changed, but not how. Your response was a bit more helpful!

@Martinnb wrote:Have the same problem. All activity (walk and hike) are logged as run. There is a way to change the activity after it is stored.
Download the Fitbit app to Windows to your PC. Now you can select the workout you like to change.
On the top of the screen on the right side you have a pencil. Chose it, and among other things you can change the activity to walk or hike. Accept the changes an it is done.
Hope this will help some of you until the app is updated.

@LanuzaFitbit wrote:Hello everyone!
I'd like to ask some questions:
- Is this happening by tracking activity in any of the methods? (Automatic recognition, tracking it with the app, selecting an activity from your Fitbit) Selecting either Walk or Hike from the app on my Motorola Turbo (Android IOS).
- When did this situation start happening? January 16
Look forward to your replies.

@Rich_Laue wrote:@Martinnb that is correct, it only happens when using the Android app to track your walk.
When you don't use the Fitbit app to record the walk, you are depending on the tracker on the wrist, not the app, to auto detect the walk.
As stated above you can still use your Fitbit tracker to record tyetgpd path by using the connected GPS and starting the gps recording on the wrist not the app.
This mode does use theGPS but doesn't use the fitbitFapp and it will record properly.
@Rich Laue: I have a Flex2, no way to start the tracker on my wrist, only on the app.

My issues started on 1-15-19. I am using a FitBit Charge HR with a Samsung Galaxy6 Android Version 7.0. I use the app by selecting my activity. Autodetect is off, and it changes to Run automatically. I am using Windows 7 and a Charge HR so I don't have all the extras that others are posting about to manually change the entry. I use the tracker to measure how far my dogs are walking.

Also having the same issue. I have an Alta HR and Samsung Galaxy S8. I start the activity on the app as a walk but when I finish it says I did a run. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have logged out and logged back in. I have the current version of the Fitbit app as well. None of it has worked.

@BobbyDinSC if I had a Charge HR I would press the button on the Charge HR to put it in its workout mode, take my walk, then press again when the walk is over. After syncing through the Win 7 using the web browser the workout can be changed to a walk.
Sorry @mmtbreen88 this is an app issue and something Fitbit needs to fix. At best maybe loading an older App version may help.

A new fitbit app version was just added to the play store. Unknown if it resolved this problem or not.
