Basic Sleep Data When Heart Rate is Registered

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have received basic sleep data several times in the last two months. I have restarted my watch every night and have used the app for over a year with good sleep stages data. Only in the last two months have I had days with basic data.On two occasions the heart rate chart is complete for the day in question. Can anyone explain why I don't get sleep stages? Other threads suggested restarting the watch and tightening the strap. However, those techniques were needed because heart rate was missing.

Hi, @Jim905! I only have a theory based on my own experience. Sometimes when my Fitbit syncs, it doesn't seem to sync everything at once. If the heart rate doesn't seem to sync on the first go, that's usually when I will see simple sleep stages. Unfortunately, once the data are uploaded, there's nothing you can do to modify it. As long as it's not happening too often, I wouldn't worry about it, but I agree, it's annoying.

Thanks MakMak

It's more than annoying to me. I'm testing various exercise and stretching routines to deal with PLMS in my sleep. I need multiple nights of data to deal with all of the variations that occur from day to day. Also, I have a systems development background and what you have described is, to my mind, a bug in the Fitbit server software.

PLMS disrupts deep sleep. Medications for PLMS have unpleasant side effects and are only effective for a year or two. My Blaze showed that there were periods last year where I had very good sleep patterns without medication. I am trying to find the combination of exercise and stretching that minimizes the use of medication. Daily sleep patterns vary quite a bit. 5-day or 10-day averages are a better way to determine if a change has been effective. Losing a night's stats skews the averages and makes a difficult analysis even more difficult.

Wow @neyla12, that came across a bit harsh if it was aimed at @Jim905.

Anyone using anything for monitoring something seriously is going to be put out if the information being received suddenly changes. I'd be miffed if my scales suddenly went metric on me and I haven't got any medical problems that my weight affects.

Sorry, I'll shut up now.

Thanks for your insight. I have started turning my phone off before I go to sleep. This workaround has been successful for three nights in a row. I'll try it a couple more nights before I declare it a success.
