Bluetooth Issues with Surge - Will Not Sync

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have not been able to sync my Surge tracker since July 15. Truth be told, it has synced only once since July 5. To resolve the issue, I have unpaired the device from my Android phone (now it won't re-pair), rebooted both my phone and the Surge multiple times, and tried to sync it with the Fitbit app installed on my Windows 10 computer using the wireless dongle, with no success. Since it will not sync with either a Windows PC or an Android phone, that suggests the issue is with the Surge tracker, which I have had since December 2016 (it is a warranty replacement). After trying several times to sync the Surge via the Android Fitbit app, I get a message saying there are Bluetooth issues, and to restart Bluetooth, presumably on the Surge, but I restarted Bluetooth on the phone as well - it cannot find the Surge that is either on my wrist or a couple feet away from the phone. When I try to turn on Bluetooth Classic, the Surge restarts itself. While I understand (actually I don't) that the LG V20 is not currently supported, that does not explain why the Surge will not sync using a Windows PC. When I bought the phone in November 2016, the Surge paired with it flawlessly, and I had no issues until a few weeks ago. I'd prefer not to delete the Surge from the account, so as to not lose the data that has (hopefully) been collected since the last sync.

Hello @Teekaybee, welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community and thank you for providing all the details about the issue and what you have tried so far to address this.

Please give it a try to the following post: Having trouble syncing? (here's how to fix this). You may find similar suggestion from what you have tried, however give it a review and try the steps on both of your devices including your computer. If you have already an account there is no need to pair your tracker again although for the purpose of troubleshooting it was good you tried to do that.

Also the following post might be of your help, the scenario of the thread is different, but the steps might be of your help.

Keep me posted how it goes, I'll be around to see how can I be of your help!

A ton of cow-crap in FitBit admin replies... But I have a solution.

First - the reason why fit bit does not sync - is because of stupid asshanded, low-paid  ̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶g̶r̶a̶m̶m̶e̶r̶s̶  monkeys, that are implementing the software.

Second - using "Always ON" or "classic bluetooth" does not always help either.

Third - the way to fix it - and it works 10/10 times, and you can keep bluetooth classic "off" - is:

1) Download Bluetooth scanner application. I use "BLE Scanner" for my Android. I think the same exist for iPhone.
2) Click "search" - you will find your "surge". Connect to it via the "BLE scanner" app, you will see some crap like "device information", etc.

3) Switch back to the FitBit app - it should start syncinc automatically.

4) Enjoy.

p.s.

If somebody knows, how to fix wrist-band, that just keeps detaching - please let me know. Feels like it was designed by complete idiot. WHat is his name? THere always ONE person with stupid idea.

We must  know the heroes.

I had the same problem with my surge from the beginning...... what you need to do is completely remove it from your phone, including the app and Bluetooth as well.

Then remove and reinstall the phone app and restart your phone.

Then go into your Fitbit.com dashboard and make sure it's removed from their as well, then remove and reinstall the windows 10 app, restart, and add your surge back to your account through the PC. Once you do that it should sync with your phone as soon as you log into the phone app. I'm not sure if you'll lose any data or not.... but if it's not syncing anyway the data is already lost 😟

Since I've used that procedure my surge has been syncing flawlessly with my phone and pc..... working the way a fitness watch should. By far the best any Fitbit has ever worked for me..... and really the best any phone related device has ever worked 😀😋😉😎
