I walked up and down the lounge from 11:30 to midnight. I know from experience that's 500 steps and 30 cals per 5 mins.
Tonight, however, every time I told my app to sync, the cals burned went back down to 2042. The steps were still going up as they should. The only reason it finished the day on 2066 is because I stopped trying to sync.
So how come I'm walking forwards and my cals burned are treading water?
It's now 00:20 and my cals for yesterday still say 2066 despite another sync.

Hello there @mousytrap, good to see you here in the Fitbit Community. My apologies for the late response and I'm wondering how it goes? Is the issue still persisting and if it does, how often is this issue affecting your calories?
Something important to mention, is that calories will depend indeed from the amount of steps, however it will be based as well in the intensity you invest in your exercise.
If the issue continues, try to reset your tracker: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
Additionally, to this try to reset your Fitbit app. Theres has been a new update which I'm sure you already have, so lets move to these suggestions: Log out from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. (This may vary depending of the Android device and the OS version)
Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your phone has initialized, go back to your app and try again.
See you later and hope this helps.

Hi,
I tried a Force Close several days ago and it didn't help with my Sunday 10th problem, though since then I've got a different issue happening - my cals burned are really lowish then there is a sudden increase in them just after midnight(???), eg last night it went up over 800 in one sync just after midnight... This is better than it not happening at all but really not helpful when I need to work out what time I need to start walking to meet target by midnight.
Back to the Sunday night problem... I had been a bit reluctant to reset the flex because the accurate data might still be on it but have just gone ahead and done so. The effect was next sync it gave me 50 extra cals burned but split it over Sun - Wed, +9, +15, +15, +11 respectively. Steps seem to be the same. No idea what that was all about.
The other thing I have noticed is that on Sunday my active minutes are showing as 14 and Monday up until today, all 4 days are showing 0 which is total rubbish. I did loads of walking during the daytime yesterday for instance.
In the week before that, typical values were 44 - 133 active minutes per day (usually green and around 1500 steps per 15 mins but always at least orange on the graph for 1200 steps per 15. And, as I said above, on Sunday night I started sometime around 23:30 or maybe it was 23:35 and walked continuously until midnight. At the very least that should be one orange and one green stripe on the steps graph. Instead it shows 2 piddly red stripes not even as high as 200 steps per 15 mins.
On the first steps graph you get to - with the turquoise background - before the sideways colour graph, the scale on the left used to show 500 and 1000 or 600 and 1200 but for the last few days starting Sunday it's been saying 300 and 600, 140 and 280, 80 and 160, 150 and 300 and today 50 and 100.
Does this suggest not all my steps are getting uploaded to the app OK?
It doesn't explain why I can have my cals burned figure on 2042 then walk for 3-4 mins and maybe get to 2056, then sync again and land right back on 2042 again though (repeat several times).
As for the version of the app, I hadn't been aware of any updates I needed but checked yesterday I think. I think it updated something because Female Health Settings is new and various things in the "account" section look new. It also got me Fitbit Coach(?) which I haven't uninstalled yet but doesn't look relevant to me. I wish to keep things as simple as possible.
My flex apparently has Firmware Version 7.88 according to the app. I can't see where I can confirm my app version but Fitbit in the Google App Store isn't trying to get me to update so presumably 2.73 dated 11 Jun 2018.
Also I notice somewhat strangely that in Advanced Settings, Automatic time zone and Automatic location are off... Could that have switched off when I upgraded the app? Is it maybe not knowing we're on BST?
Just an idea...
Better start tonight's walking now...
Update:
OK It's midnight here.
I made a note of the figures at 23:59 ish - 8942 steps, 1810 cals
As soon as it hit 00:00 it changed down to 8041 steps, 1743 cals
After a sync it changed to 8951 steps, 2456 cals.
This is info re the happenings since Sunday, not the unresolved Sunday problem (where I'm still waiting for the boost after midnight!!!). This is what happened Monday to Thursday nights. Why's it been holding back over 600 cals on me?
Also, when I look at the steps graph for the last 15 mins of Thursday, that bar only goes up to just over 300. It should be 1200-1500 as advised above (4x as much). Are you sure someone hasn't coded the intensity figures and graph software over the wrong time period or something weird like that?
Believe me, after pacing my dining-living room nightly for months on end, twice over the past 5 years, and being of a maths loving persuasion, I know it's 10 paces from one end to the other, I do 10 lengths per minute, 100 lengths per 5 mins and that equates to 30 cals/500 steps per 5 mins or 90/1500 per quarter hour.
PS The post above lost me about 30 minutes of walking time to write...
Update:
Have now walked up and down for another 25 mins or so (11:35ish to noon) at my usual pace and absolutely no active minutes picked up. Before that I've been pottering about doing light chores.
My steps now sit on 6058 for today and cals only on 891. Given that there's been 12 hours at 60 p/hr basal rate, I could have still got 720 of those if I hadn't bothered getting up today. or more than 1200 if I'd been sitting typing at my computer for 12 hours.
Something definitely wrong.

Hi there @mousytrap, thanks for all the details you have tprivide regarding the issue you are experiencing with your calories and steps.
The app update might not be showing, as you might already have the new version. Also the automatic timezone and location, could be possible were off after the update. I recommend to turn On both options again based on your location.
Regarding the restart, if you have synced already your information the data has been already uploaded and should not be lost if you perform a restart. This will help if your tracker has some sort of error but I will leave this at the moment as optional.
Reviewing your case, I strongly believe your scenario is unique. I know you have took the time already to provide enough details, however I would like to bother you with screenshots of this behavior. I think this will be very helpful for me to have a closer look of what you are experiencing. If you are agree and If you need help uploading screenshots, this post will served as a reference.
I'll be looking forward to your response.
