When I click on "weight" from the dashboard, under goal progress it says I've lost 19.7 pounds since April 2nd, but I got my fitbit on July 9th. Is there any way I can change my start date so that it is correct?

I happy to hear that. Technology is only as good as the program written. Stay safe and healthy!

Your problem is not unique. I had this problem months ago and it drove me mad.
I just wanted to set a new start date back to my highest recent weight. I accidentally set it to Feb and I meant Jan. Fitbit allowed me to change the new start date but now won’t let me correct it.
What is odd is there is no “save” button you just hit back. When I go to the date I’ve just changed it’s back to the wrong date. I’ve rebooted my iPhone X and “forget this device” and it makes no difference.
what if I want to reset my start date every time I hit a mini weight loss target???
This is an ongoing problem and I cannot believe it hasn’t been resolved a year later.
fitbit should add a save button. “Yes I want to change my start date “ then change it!!!! How hard would this be!!!
JUST SORT THIS OUT FITBIT!!! Any moderators reading this - change your weight loss start date (charge 2) and then try and do it again!! I can’t!!

I have this problem, too. My weight loss journey started on 9-7-2020, but was reset to 2-27-2021. I tried to change it in the app, but it wouldn't change, even when I adjusted the date. How can I get my start date back to 9-7-2020?

I can’t believe this problem still exists. Fitbit has done nothing to answer us or solve the problem. Fitbit, actually look at the problem and help us! The date reverts every time on the dashboard, or on the app. None of the solutions in this 6-year long thread work. I’ve tried them all.

Did you try changing it from the browser while the the fitbit app is open? I'm in the habit of closing the app when I'm not using it but a lot of people don't close their apps. My way was the only way that worked for me, and I'm thinking some of the other people had the app open but didn't realize it.
It's worth a try, anyway. I'd be curious if it works for you.
But I get your point. These forums become a mess of spaghetti thinking without somebody curating the right answer (not just the one accepted by the poster, who may not yet understand the issue). They really need a knowledgeable person to come through, see the issues, and have a separate page where the important and repeated ones are solved (or a let us know there's a bug and hopefully it'll be fixed in an update soon).

Would be great if there were any option to see overall weightloss and new goal progress, instead of having to go back and scroll through the log. If Fitbit is all about healthy living and weightloss is about having a big goal but small successes then this would be an ideal way to let paying subscribers track their progress overall and short term. Please make this change...

Also there is not enough instruction with current build to show someone how to set that tracker up. After seeing Fitbit was not tracking my total weightloss I tried setting goals again...... you know where that led.

Yes, I do. It led to a nightmare. Been there, done that. 😉

I don’t know if you had a question with changing your start date. I got an email stating that question. hope that helps
Weight loss start date iphone
I don’t know if Android is different
1. Go to face icon
2. Activity and wellness
3. Nutrition and weight
4. Start date
4a. A drop down rotary should appear and change start date with that.

Same idea, with slightly different labeling…
Go to Account, then Activity & Wellness, then Nutrition & Weight.
Next edit the “start date”, and “start weight”.

Wanted to add the answer below from MarkElliot for iOS users or if this doesn't work, took ages to find this on the forum:
OK I had the same problem as everyone else.
To solve this on the Ipad I went to settings - nutrition and body goals and changed both date *and* the starting weight (ie the weight that I already had recorded on that date).
That does seem to have stuck.
One edit after trying this on my iPhone in 2023 - when you are changing your weight AND date, for some reason you're only given the option to enter a date in the weight area (doesn't make sense), so I copied and pasted my initial weight from elsewhere since I couldn't select the numbers as it was only allowing dates! Once you try to change both of these, you'll know what I mean! But it worked after that.
