Can't change profile picture

I can't change my profile pic and that's very annoying. I know how to change the profile pic. I know how. It's not letting me on the app or on the website

@FitbitUser0206   Do you use an Android or iPhone?  This is an app issue, not a Charge 6 issue.  Your post can get moved to the right app platform forum.  You must do this on the app.  Your Fitbit profile is available on the web, but the links to change profile and cover photos are disabled.

Thank you very much for your response. It's on Android. Why is it disabled?

Hello @FitbitUser0206

One of our users discovered this way to change your profile picture in the Fitbit app:

  • Tap on the You tab in the Fitbit app
  • Tap on the Family tile under Community
  • Tap on your name to open your profile page
  • Tap on the camera icon to change your profile picture. You might need to grant permission for the app to access the camera & your photos. Follow the prompts to upload your picture and save

FYI - I have seen some users report that this method didn't work for them.

This is the method I've been using and it's telling me permissions are disabled but they are not

Hello @FitbitUser0206

Thanks for confirming that's the method you were using. I should have realized that you knew this route from your initial post. My apologies for missing that fact.

That's the same error message that other users reported seeing. However, I haven't seen a fix for the permissions error.

For now, please submit this issue using the Feedback option in the Fitbit app

  • Tap on your picture in the upper right of the Today page in the Fitbit app
  • Tap on Feedback in the menu that opens
  • Complete the prompts and submit

Although it's likely that you won't receive a reply, the team receives and reviews the feedback reports.

BTW, have you tried clearing the cache or storage/data for the Fitbit app on your phone to see if that lets you change your profile picture?

I cleared the data, and the cache, and uninstalled it and reinstalled it and tried to create a new Google account

Permissions for this feature have been disabled, it says. I have all permissions accepted. I can't change my profile picture on my phone or the website

Can't change my profile pic but I have all permissions granted. Can't even change my profile pic on the website

@FitbitUser0206   Sorry for the delay answering your question.  Fitbit disabled the links to change your profile and cover photos on the website several months before the web dashboard was disabled.

That's what drove me nuts, most everyone else has no problem. Hopefully they fix it soon. Sorry that happened to you.

I received this message from the Fitbit team after trying again after the latest update 4.36.1

Thanks for the screenshot. We're doing a smooth roll-out for the new Fitbit app update (version 4.37). The roll-out started last Monday Feb 18th, and it is expected to be completed by Tuesday, Feb 25th. Please check your Android Playstore app from time to time for the new Fitbit app update. Once you've updated your Fitbit app to the newest version, see if it will not ask fro permission again.
